This morning my husband and I played golf with another couple. We were the second group out. The couple in front of us were walking, not holding up anyone. We four were getting ready to tee off when all of a sudden we saw the man in front walking back up the golf cart trail coming toward us. We all assumed one of them had left a golf club and we just didn't see it. But not the case. He told us his girlfriend was partial to a feathered tee and he was trying to find it for her. We couldn't believe our ears. Don't know if he found it and didn't care. Talk about the etiquette of golf and Ready Golf and holding up the game. Those two didn't have a clue.

I am no longer a golf virgin! Went golfing today for the first time...loved it! Had fun and learned a lot...my game stinks. But I think if I go out once or twice a week and maybe take some lessons, I think I could be a decent golfer. So if you are behind me, I might be a little slower please be patient! I think I am going to like this game!

My wife and I are going to take golf lessons when we get settled in. We are complete "golf virgins" too. Never played. Always too busy. I hope we don't irritate the experienced players while we are learning the game.

It's called a "brush tee" made of plastic with a a bunch of strands holding the ball up. Supposed to reduce frictions. they are expensiv but last forever. Looks kinda like a feather duster in minature


Still they shoulda let you through...... Can't balme this one on snowbirds. LOL

Just a general thing to say. If you are new, it is SO wise to take a few lessons first or go out with experienced golfers who can show you the ropes and keep you moving at the pace expected. 40 years ago when I was learning I was told by Sweetie that it doesn't matter if you are good or bad, BUT you do NOT have to be slow and hold anyone up if you know the etiquette of golf. If you are not yet sure, keep up with the group ahead of you. Pick your ball up after six shots to the green and four putts on the green. (Others will tell you way fewer. (And a WHIFF IS A SHOT)

If this sounds unfriendly, it is not meant to be. Being slow holds up the entire golf course for the entire day. Watch the group ahead of you and stay up with them, but don't hit into them. Don't look for lost balls. Don't take a bunch of practice swings.

Even experienced golfers can hold up play and they are really not enjoyed.

Being slow on the golf course is like farting in church. Folks won't say anything, but they won't like it.;)

Well said, Gracie! We weren't upset, just couldn't believe it. Maybe both of them were new and didn't know any better. After all, we are in TV, not in much of a hurry at all.

Everybody will do fine as long as everyone...especially those new to golf...play the course(s) approprite for their level of play. All executive courses are rated level 1 to level 4...any anyone new to the game should not be playing a course rated higher than a level 2 And play from the appropriate tee box. Level 4 courses can be very challenging even for the most experienced player.

Everyone should enjoy themselves and have fun. Playing way above your capabilities not only takes the fun out of he game, but it can actually be frustrating, raise your BP, and cause you to stop playing... Lets Have fun!

If you are new to golf, you really should understand etiquette of the game. I learned when very young while caddying (pulling his cart) for my Dad on his weekend round. Check out this web site.

I will say some courses are better than others and some ambassadors are better than others. Do not believe for a second the ambassador does not matter. I do not wish to generalize, many are very good at understanding where the players are on their nine and can intercede before an issue arises; a few should be Walmart greeters.

A twosome is playing ahead of a foursome. The twosome drops something and retreats, likely briefly to try to find it. Apparently if it had been a golf club the OP would not have felt it inappropriate to retreat. And this is the terrible violation of ready play?
Ok, you waited an extra 2 to 3 minutes for the massive tee hunt. I'll bet by two more holes a twosome is well ahead of you. There was no complaint that this twosome was new to golf or needed lessons or on a course that was above their level of skill. Nor does OP say that the twosome was chronically slow. Just that they lost an item they hoped to retrieve. What is so serious about it that is would warrant a "this takes the cake"? I like cake especially chocolate.

A feathered tee is not actually feathered but has thin lots of plastic things sticking up and you balance your ball on it , people think the ball flies off it better and you can sort of brush thru the tee. They are expensive so guess that's why he came back to try to find it, they fly far when you miss the ball and hit that tee !
