Moved in Tuesday and Suburban came out and filled the underground tank.
They then inspected the line and started the BBQ which we used last night.
They say FL law requires them to come out for $50.00 to let me know what propane smells like and how to shut off the valve outside and the valve under the BBQ. This is there instruction visit as they call it. I'm sure this "instruction" is to let me know to lift the lid before lighting. Heck (sp) if I didn't already know that i'd prob. be 6' under already!
They could not send me any info on the law for my review and it seems pretty bogus to me.
I understand gas products as I was employed with Lennox for years.
Is there anyone else besides Suburban that delivers to TV?
Thanks

Sorry I hv no idea who delivers LP around here. Did you bury an LP tank just for the BBQ or do you also hv a propane ovenstove/HW/dryer? We thought about installing one cause we do not like cooking on electric. were you hvac service?

Yes there are other companies, do a goggle search and you will find them, however Suburban is the one we use. I am surprised they filled your tank before doing the inspection. Whether or not the inspection is law or not it is a CYA for them and have had the same thing done to me in other states. And if you go to another gas company now, the new one will do an inspection and charge you for it. You can shop around for the best price. Every time I told Suburban I was leaving because I got a better price they met the competitions price. There are introductory rates out there that are usually good for a year. And for those that are putting in more propane appliances Suburban will it to include the installation of the correct gas jets.

When we changed to Suburban Propane, back in 2010, they would not deliver until they had someone inspect our system. As I recall there was no charge for that.
We did call one propane supplier earlier this year and they were about the same price as Suburban. Unfortunately I do not recall which supplier in Ocala I talked to.
