Just a FYI-wasted 90 minutes at Holiday Express Inn on a seminar for CTA vacations.
Received an "award notification" for a travel voucher thru US Airlines.
The certificate was for 2 round trip airline tickets to anywhere.
I was told I would receive an email prior to my attendance with my husband today. I never received it-now I know why!
It is a scam---they start by telling you their membership fee is $8995 for a lifetime + $399 processing fee & $199 annual fee. Then they drop the membership fee to $6995 if you sign up today! They will give you rebates on the trips you take so basically you will recoup that membership investment the more trips you take. At the end of the seminar the speaker advises the first new member would get an additional $1000 off their membership fee.
There were no takers out of the 8 couples! Then they send in the used car salespersons to tell you how much more $ they could save you. With each discount I became more uneasy. The bottom line is there is an outside vendor sending these "vouchers" and they have no intentions of provided you with an award unless you pay out of your pocket to receive it! Stay away from CTA!!!

Didn't you know there is no such airlines as "US Airlines"?

Glad you did not buy into their great offer. Next time you get such an offer through the mail, check with Seniors vs Crime to see if they have heard of the scam or even google it.

Darn - There was a discount? And I paid the full $8995. I should have hesitated more! :)

That sounds a lot like Direct Buy.

About 10 years ago we received an invitation to attend a meeting which I believe was Direct Buy or something similar. They were offering discounts on furniture, household items etc. After sitting thru the spiel about how great this program was they said that if you did not make a decision to purchase that day that you would not be able to purchase later. That statement raised the red flag for me so we walked out. I probably wouldn't have joined anyway as you would have to purchase a lot of stuff to break even. I had a laugh about the whole experience.
