Landscaping for privacy

So here is the question. If you wanted to do some tropical type landscaping in the rear of your home for privacy and asthetic value at a reasonable price who would you call? I am not looking for some $5000. landscape job, but maybe someone who would create the beds and the plan and maybe allow me to do the work. I love to have my hands in the dirt and have created some awesome gardens in former homes, but don't really have the time, energy, or funds to redo them like I use to. Any suggestions????

Yes. We put in our own Bottlebrush hedge along the back perimeter of our property. Planted them in March and they are already twice the size. (About four foot tall and will grow to eight) We bought them at Lowes for five dollars each. They grow fast and are easy to plant and have dark red blooms that look like a bottle brush..

Gracie, we will be moving down in 3 weeks and will probably want 1 or 2 plantings, and your bottlebrush hedge sounds perfect. Is this type of small planting something you are supposed to get approval for from the powers that be, or can you just do these smaller things without the red tape? We are looking forward to meeting you and many of the other TOTVers at the July get together at Crispers.

We used KGL Landscaping to do our work because Jeannie, the designer can take a picture of your house and design something for you on their computer. You get to see the job first. Very knowledgeable about plants and wont just sell you anything. Only what will work for you. Or they will cut out your beds and create a plan for you to build on. You may have a small fee for her design time but if you chose to let them do the job it comes off the price. You should give them a call.Its worth the time. Great reliable company. podocarpus Great for hedge or single plants. Similar to the Bottle Bush, but more hardy in this climate.

He will do whatever you need. Large job, small job. We are on a corner lot but have a kissing lanai in back by our pool. He put 3 huge Sugar Palms that filled the area exposed to our neighbors. We had a lot more done, but if the back is all you need then that is what he will do. You can't imagine what a nice person he is.
