Look at this this way. There will be no problem with chair saving like at SS ad LSL.

maybe a smart market nite vendor will sell the padded stadium seat with attached back like is already sold in stores like walmart - seats will have the name of your village pre-printed on it! ;)

I've never seen a stadium with only concrete seating. Usually a concrete foundation is built and then either wood or aluminum bench or individual seats are attached. It's still very early in the building process, not quite the time to be judging the final product.

I think Harvard Stadium was that way. Probably upgraded since I was there last.

Unfortunately ZC, I think the ignorant and selfish will still save seats. I can just picture it. One person will sit at one end of a row, another person will sit at the other end of the row, and they'll have a long rope held between them.

The only way to end this problem will be for the developer to make sure this type of action is not allowed to occur.

Time will tell.

Z. Thanks for the laugh. :1rotfl: One fanny in seat or block of cement equals reserved.

I'm sure someone will think of a way to reserve a block of cement. Maybe they'll buy padded backing and one person willl throw a bunch of of them in and say there are reserved.

The beat goes on......Just sayin...........

It's still very early in the building process, not quite the time to be judging the final product.I've seen stadiums in at least two locations that had concrete seats. One of them is the Bleeker Stadium in Albany NY where I've been on several occasions when I was a little younger. We even had our equivelent of the Army Navy Football game there when our military school (LSI) in Troy, NY played Albany's military school. (CBA) It happened once a year and both schools were in uniform. Both schools would drill after the game and a saber was passed on from the last year winner to the other school, that is... if they won. Also attended a number of drum & bugle corps competitions (and marched in a few) there over the years. I don't know if they are still concrete seats today though!

BTW, you can see pictures of Spanish Springs construction as well as a video at the following link: The Villages Daily Sun: Daily Renovation Updates (http://www.thevillagesdailysun.com/news/daily_renovation_updates/)

IIRC, our stadium where the Senior Bowl is played has concrete seats/benches.

Commented to wife the other day after seeing the bleacher seat at Brownwood. That it was definately NOT designed for a retirement community in mind.

I just can not see seniors climbing those "seats" and doing the excuse me as they try to walk down the isle. This is an accident waiting to happen.

This is about as stupid as those floating plastic islands that they are putting in the ponds.

Do you think this seating will be different than the tier seating in the movie theaters? Do seniors avoid the movies because of the climb? Why do you think chairs won't be put on the concrete?

The difference is people sit to watch a movie. At the squares, there is booze and folks wanting to get up to dance or socialize.

I'm not positive, but I thought I have seen a drawing in which chairs were still going to be available at floor level. The stadium seating in order to provide shade. Beer huts will be below seating. That's my recollection.....

I know you are going to bop me right in the head.

But I feel in my heart it will be lovely. Everything has been so far.

Like my friend Bogie says, "Patience, Grasshopper".

NO. I don't work for the developer or know the Morses, but I stand ready to hug them all.

So what's the deal about the paper. It looks the same to me. Or is it supposed to change next Saturday?

John I hope your right in your statement it's still early in the building stage to know. I cant see making seniors sit on concrete. That makes no sense.?? I dont' see putting a pad on it making it comfortable either because you still have nothing for your back. this will be interesting to see how it turns out. It just baffles my mind they would even consider building concrete to sit on??
