We're getting ready to be permanent Villagers in mid-August, and I wondered if there was a Trader Joe's nearby because I really enjoy certain products you can't get anywhere else. I read the posts (over the past year or so) on TOTV about Trader Joe's and its "sister" company Aldi's before posting this...

I sent an email to Trader Joe's last week, and was informed that there are no plans to build one in or near The Villages (or Ocala) in the next 2 years. They plan about 20+ stores during a 2-year period, and have just started building in Florida. There is a store in Naples, and one to open soon in Sarasota.

Someone on TOTV suggested sending an email to Trader Joe's, and that is what I am also suggesting! Maybe there will be strength in numbers!

There are many of us who would love to see Trader Joe's open somewhere near TV. I'd be happy to send an email to the Trader Joe's powers that be.

Copy of the e-mail I received back from TJ
Aloha and thank you for your interest in our stores. Emails have been flooding in with suggestions for new store locations in neighborhoods all over the U.S. We love that!
*
Rest assured, every email is read and your recommendation will be passed along to our real estate folks. *
*
The best place to find new info concerning which neighborhoods we’ll be in next is the Trader Joe’s Locations page at http://www.traderjoes.com/static/find_a_tjs.asp
*
We hope to see you soon!

Mahalo (thanks)

Something I forgot to mention, which would have been an easy solution... Trader Joe's does not do online ordering, which is hard to believe in this online era! They wish to keep their company as a "Mom and Pop" operation.

True that TJ's does not do online ordering, but i don't think you can call it a Mom & Pop operation. It is owned by a huge German conglomerate that also owns Aldi's

Bottom line, Many of us would like to have TJ's in or near the villages and have written them in the past with our concerns.

They seem to have "managed growth" so let's hope that they will eventually be able to justify a store in our area..

Shopped at Trader Joe's yesterday in my hometown. Bought such great items and am bringing some down next week, obviously not the refrigerated stuff.

Yes I will miss TJ when we move down there, but there are tradeoffs no matter where we go in life.
