after two trips to TV and lots of encouragement from veteran home owners my wife and I decided to put a deposit on a lot in TV of Charlotte. we are a few years away from retirement but very excited about owning a home in TV.
this forum is a great tool to learn from your experience.

I'm from Enfield, Ct and lived in Manchester for quite a few years. I have been full time in TV for 9 years. I worked for the CT Dept of Transportation for 30 yrs. You will love it here.

Joe and I are from Connecticut, he Danbury and I Hartford! We also have a lot reserved in Charlotte and are praying our home here in GA sells prior to the end of the year when we would loos the reservation!

Hi Everyone - We are in Norwalk, CT but my husband and I bought a lot in Fernandina in May. We then came home and got our house ready to put on the market by June 1st. We have just accepted a full price offer and hope to close by Sept. 1st I've now made a design appointment for Oct 2nd, but I think we are going to come down in September and rent for a while. Whew !! I need to catch my breath !!! I think we want to build a Begonia, but are still looking at a few other models - anyone have any thoughts ? Thanks

aabuono, Welcome to TOTV! Sounds like you will be busy in the upcoming months. I'm just a wannabee, so I can't give you any building advice, but I hope whatever home you decide to build will be a home full of good times! :welcome:

The advise I have been given by veterans is to build (or buy) the biggest place you can reasonably afford especially if you plan to live there full time. I’m told that you will find you need storage space and room to move around (no basement…).
Sounds reasonable to me. We have not decided on a model yet. The lot we picked out in May is in TV of Charlotte, so we have a little time to work on it.

Put my condo on the market in May 2011 ... sold it August 2011 went to live with my daughter and at the same time gave notice from to my job and officially retired January 2012 left for TV and said I wasnt come back to CT until I purchased a house....three days after I got here I brought a pre-owned and closed in Feb. Best decision I ever made...this place is truly a Disneyland for Adults. You're never bored and you sleep like a baby because you're so active all day long. People was fabulous here. Back home people dont believe you what its likes here....everyone has to see for themselves. Good luck and WELCOME!

Husband and I moved here from Vernon two years ago, Blue Ridge Drive off Tunnel Road. Maybe we were neighbors! Sure do miss Shady Glen in Manchester! I do like Too Jays in TV more than Reins Deli, though.

We are wondering about the additional cost for upgrades, such as granite, stainless steel appliances, and cabinets. Can anyone give us a ball park figure for these things so we are better prepared when we arrive?

We have many of the same questions and wil be working with our rep to get answers.
One big question we are considering is the jump from a cottage home style to a designer home where some of the features you mentioned may be standard. At this point I am working with our rep and reading TOTV to learn from others.
