Totally my fault cause the nice lady that checked us into our villa told us to have our card with us at all times. Well I got the bath suit on and plum forgot that dang card. All was great at the pool then the pool police came looking for identity papers. Had a set of keys for villa and cart but not good enough. Took my 50 lashes in stride.

What you need to do if you see the pool police coming...hop into the pool, swim to the deep end and tread water. Make em come and get ya!

We were at the pool for one hour in April. Yep, the pool police came and checked our ID's. Surprised they did not kick you out.

Pool police at Chula Vista only checked out my visitor's ID once while I was in TV last week. And l had the ID with me yeah! When I played bingo at the Chula Vista pool last Thursday morning they did not check my visitors ID, but I was ready to show it if necessary.

I offered to but she declined though the lecture continued. I've got a firm grip on that card now.

It happened to me too Posh while we were there. I took my ID every day and it was not checked. Then I totally forgot in our hurry to get there and the checkers came. Luckily my husband had his. The checker did not want to wait on me while I bent to our place to get it....felt really bad but also glad they are checking.

Who are the new owners?

This is all being discussed on a separate thread 145 posts and counting..............

Sorry to hijack the thread, Bogie Shooter. But I didn't see any evidence that the Sun had been sold on that thread and when I saw it mentioned again here, I thought I'd ask about the new owner.

I believe that we need to step up our technology and be required to have a Village's issue cards similar to key cards at hotels for entry to every Villages facility in addition to a phot ID card issued by TV. I also believe that we need some sort of identification for our carts. I believe Community Watch needs to step up their efforts in discouraging abusers. Some of our streets may be public access but our cartpaths are not.

Some may think this an over reaction but clearly if such safguards are not met than " your paying more for the Lifestyle" becomes only a slogan which enables the Developer to charge more for something that other people are getting free. I also understand that their are many villagers who may read this post and then blink and deflate which is to me very very unfortunate.

What abusers would you have discouraged?? We have over 40,000 carts in TV. I'll bet you can't find 40 that are close enough to abuse. Not worth the effort IMHO.

Hi Mulligan: Fact o the matter is that a study is underway and for the reasons I cited. It isn't until you start taking a closer look that you see a problem. So my reactions are not over-stated

I could perhaps see the use of something like a keycard. We have something similar at my home in Boynton Beach. However that has it's own set of problems when residents hold the flood gates open for friends. Either way, there will always be someone there who under normal circumstances shouldn't be. I would be more concerned with damage to the
pool area than the fact that someone is enjoying it. But a key card would definitely be a benefit of sorts in the fact that there would likely be less non residents or guests without passes.

Just tell them I don't have my Village ID!!!!

Identification for the golf cart is going beyond what is necessary. Would you suggest having cartpath police to monitor the golfcarts as they go past to see who has identified carts? Would you suggest fining unidentified carts and on whose authority would the fines take place?

Personally, I do not think it is a problem. Sure, there are a very few carts from maybe Oxford or Lady Lake that might sneak in to get to the town squares or clubs. Where else could they come from since carts are not allowed on roads having more than a 35 mph speed limit? The very few carts that sneak in are not tearing up our multi modal trails as compared to the wear they get from the maybe 50,000 Villager carts.

I believe that the technology is already here to provide an "all-purpose" photo ID card to fulfill the requirements that you mention.

My new NY State driver's license has an RFID chip embedded in it, and the license serves as a passport type document which allows me to travel to many countries in the Western hemisphere, including Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The only limitation is that I cannot use it to fly anywhere internationally. However, I can drive over the borders, or take a cruise.

You could have something similar for a Villages ID, I suppose. You would not even have to insert the card in a slot, you could pass it close by a sensor.

Just a thought..........

Thats what they should have done a few years ago when they issued new ID cards. Cards with RFID would serve as ID and open gates as well. No need for two cards. Current cards won't read in the sunlight at the pools and the police have to write the numbers down and enter them manually to the scanner. They missed the boat on that one !

Ain't that just the truth. We get so much for what we pay and it is so much better than any other place for ANY price, plus, I don't want one of those chips imbedded in my fanny. I will feel like a Stepford wife then.

Things are danged near perfect. Sometimes we all do sound like a bunch of old people.:undecided:

Pool Monitors are nice-----everyone that I met. After a few weeks on the job they can pretty well tell the "regulars" from the "outsiders". He/she might have a problem telling a 25 year old from a 35 year old but probably just glad to see someone under 65!
