When one is on vacation, is it safe to store your gas golf cart in the garage for several weeks. I am concerned about the heat with the gas fumes.
Should the golf cart we almost empty of gas or full. I know it is the fumes that cause explosions but I am not sure what to do.
I would appreciate any information you can share.

Not a problem to store a gas cart in a garage for weeks.....or months (provided there are no leaks in the tank or fuel lines).
Different schools of thought on the empty tank vs. full tank mindset. I always store ours with a fairly full tank. Less potential for condensation forming in the fuel tank during storage. For an example of this, look at a partially filled soft drink container or water bottle that sits for a while. Condensation forms on the empty inside surface of the bottle, particularly when there are swings in the temp and/or humidity levels. I'd prefer to not have that happening in the fuel tank.
Also, I don't jam it 100% full to the brim to allow for some room for expansion of the fuel if needed due to temperature rise (comes out of the underground tanks at the gas stations at a cooler temp than might be experienced once the fuel is in the tank).
JMHO!! Hope it's of some help to you.

The Fuel has 10-30% ethanol in it from the pumps. This will immediately start to absorb the moisture from the air. The ethanol sucks it up and within one week phase seperation starts.
The water settles to the bottom of the tank. After three weeks the fuel then starts to loose its octane rating.
After 6 weeks it starts to damage and corrode carb parts.
Your gas can should be sealed and treated with a product called K100= Available on line and at certain Advance Auto Stores. You can not over dose with this product.
It will stop all phase seperation and literaly absorbs then burns water. You Stable people before you get on your band wagon I want you to get a glass jar pour in some water pour in your Stable or Star Tron shake it up and watch what happens.
Not pretty but it does bring you back to the Lava Lamp days. Try the same thing with K100- A picture is worth a hundred words. I am not a dealer for K100. But I have extensive field testing with this product in Diesel, Power Sports Small engines and the Boating Industry.
Unless you folks can find Marina Gas or Small Engine Fuel with no ethanol in it. Then some Stable is all you need. Ethanol is not in this fuel :gc:

Sta-Bil now sells a special ethanol treatment product marketed for "marine applications". It is green in color as compared to the regular red stuff.
I assume that it works the same as the product you recommend. It is very expensive for the small bottle it sells in. Walmart and some auto stores sell it around TV but it is more common (and sold in larger containers) in many lake areas around the USA.

Car Guys,
I always appreciate, and have learned a great deal from many of your posts.
Thank you.
After reading Bill and Brillo's post on the Marine Sta-bil, do you believe the K100 and the Marine Sta-bil are equal in quality?
