My husband and I decided to retire in the Villages after our first visit! We closed on our home in Tamarind Grove in April and will be part-timers for another year, then we will be permanent residents. Retirement can't come soon enough. We are both retired Army, he was a helicopter pilot, and I an air traffic controller. In July 2013, he will retire from his government job and I from a position at CSC. We both love being active and look forward to the active lifestyle the Villages provides.

After the Army shifted ATC training from Kessler to Ft. Rucker I was in one of the first classes to go through ATC school on Tank Hill from July 1970 to October 1970. However after 13 months in Korea and then a year at Hunter AAF, when we were training Vietnamese pilots, I got out and went in the FAA.
In 1981 when I was working at Pensacola Approach I got caught up in the PATCO strike, I knew about 5 guys that got hired by DOA at Cairns Approach, but they're probably all retired by now.
My wife and I settled in Southern Star Villas in Tamarind Grove almost a year ago. You'll like it here a lot.

Hello, stuckinparadise -- Where in Wisconsin are you from? I have a sister and brother-in-law in Mineral Point and 2 nieces in Madison. They are all Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fans :ohdear:

I grew up in a very small town called Mondovi (about 30 minutes from Eau Claire). Even though I've been away since I turned 18 (joined the military), I've been a Green Bay Packers fan. I also like the Brewers but I equally enjoy cheering for the Atlanta Braves.
