Dr. Dan Spurrior off from Old Camp Rd. (past Sweet Bay) by Lake Imaging! He did my non-evasive back surgery 1+ years ago. He won't operate "unless" it's really warranted! He's very good and has a good "bedside" manner as well. His office personnel are friendly and professional.

I'd go to Shands for any major surgery, espcially for something so close to the spinal cord as back surgery. Years ago, when I herniated a disk, my doctor refused to let me go to anyone but a neurosurgeon because too many things can go wrong when so close to the spinal cord.

I would suggest Dr. Friedman .. Chief of Neurosurgery at Shands (U of Fl Medical School). Nice guy .. look at his vitae = A++.

I asked for the best and was sent to Dr. Robertson in Ocala. I like him very much and he is well respected. You do have to go to an Ocala hospital but that was not a problem.

This doctor is a neurosurgeon! I'd asked him the 1st time I saw him a few years ago.."wonder if things 'act up' when we go up north?" This being before we were permenent here. He said "see a neurosurgeon!"!! I respect him highly and felt he was very good in what he did for my care! In my opinion you don't have to leave The Villages when we have him here!

Thanks so much for everyone's input. Many of the names I've heard of and will do process of elimination as to my ills. My problem started in 6/09 car accident and had surgery in 10/10 since then had problems. Had decompression, steroid injections, microsurgery, caudal, acupuncture. My blessings is that I moved to The Villages with great people. Again my thanks.
