Democrats plan to get Republicans to Raise Taxes

An article in Townhall, plus a couple of linked stories, immediately made me think of our own resident Kahuna who won't listen to anything to do with the economy unless there's a caveat that we must raise taxes first and foremost, and there's can be no real discussion on that because it's just plain ol' doggone common sense.

Then I come across these articles where Democrats agree that that's their game plan.

They need to seduce Republicans to go along with tax hikes to grow government. Reduce spending?; who's kidding who; not in the game plan.
Reveal Republicans as breaking their no new taxes rule and help themselves to the cash at the same time. it's a win-win.

Not one member of Congress is talking about doing anything about it. Nor have either of the candidates for POTUS mentioned the looming problem.

The result will be pretty disastrous for our economy. But all that is avoidable if the Congress got to work and did what they were elected to do...all of them...both parties. That will require negotiation and compromise.

It's not likely that either party is willing to do that...they have refused to do that many times in recent years. So when it happens, the next best thing will be to blame the other political party. Get ready. It's going to happen and all the partisans on both sides will be outraged.

Bush that they would cut spending if he agreed to a modest rise in taxes and then beat him over the head with that "he raised taxes club" until he was reeling and falling out of the oval office that the "raise taxes" scheme is just one big piece of bull crap to destroy the credibility of the Republicans.

It's the only reason for the insistence for the tax increases to be made by the Republican Congress, and no amount of specifics from you or anyone about all the numbers and margins and what-have-you has any relevance in the partisan call for raised taxes.

Just don't wear a hole in your stomach generating too much acid over Obama and the Democrats between now and the end of the year. When all the bad stuff starts to happen after the bowl games, and all the public outrage over increased taxes and cuts in government programs and defense spending starts, you'll have the company of all the other Republican partisans blaming the Democrats and Obama for what's going to happen. Of course, the Democrats will be slinging it back at you.

If Romney wins, he won't be starting with quite as bad an economic problem as Obama did. But he'll be starting with a much worse political situation, with both parties hating one another even more than now, being more uncooperative than they've ever been, if that's even imaginable.

So there's no sense you getting all upset until the bad stuff actually starts to happen...unless you want to get mad at the entire Congress for sitting around doing little more than campaigning for their re-elections between now and then.

Do us all a favor and provide a little empirical evidence that the economy is worse now that when Obama was inaugurated. Simple question. There are all kinds of statistics that are readily available.

Oh, sorry, you rely more on your "gut feel" and information from never-named sources "who you rely on". And then, when you either don't know how to do the research or understand it's meaning, you declare "...I think we're finished talking about this".
