Learn what?

I understand it will be held by candlelight as the TeaParty is against anything progressive. They still do not understand that progressive means going forward and the opposite is going backward. What kind of movement do you want to belong to - one that moves forward with the times or one that goes backward?

It is obvious that the teaparty wants to go backwards - to the days of Joe McCarthy.

The Tea Partiers are getting together to burn their social security and medicare cards. They wouldn't want to be part of those socialists programs. They may be able to celebrate the overturning of the Affordable Care Act on Monday. High fives all around for causing seniors to pay more for their meds, and kicking young people off their parent's health insurance, and allowing insurance companies to cancel your insurance when you get sick, or not cover you if you have a pre-existing condition. Good times all around.

I am not a "tea partier" nor will I attend your meeting but I would suggest that you send all the replies you have received to the administrator..you do not need to take that kind of petty and mean abuse. I recall the Democrat club announcing a few years ago and as I recall got no verbal abuse. In addition, back in 2008 an Obama rally was announced on here and all the conversation was about where it was being held but no mean spirited remarks at all.

You are a new poster and I assure you that you Will get these kind of remarks from a few posters who deal with things this way. It is not the trademark of this forum nor most of the posters.

If you said anything remotely close to what they have remarked they would be sending them off as a reported post.

It is mocking language and not even remotely meant to be discussion.

It's always the left who cry about hate who are the biggest practitioners. There's is no tolerance in the left who scream for tolerance.

I always have said if you want to know what the left is doing, listen for what they accuse others of doing.

The ignorance of the left abounds.

You should book Gov Rick Scott for one of your meetings and get him to talk about medicare fraud. Are we allowed to bring loaded firearms to this meeting?

I think it is a good thing to let the haters post to their hearts content.

It is kind of like sunlight, It illuminates the hate and vitriol that they just can't hide or hold back. It is a major reason for our inability to make any progress between parties. Just pure hate.

How you equate MEANNESS and LACK OF RESPECT for another person with any semblance of political discussion is well beyond me !!!

No, I think they put duct tape on everyone's mouth at the door after they give you an enhanced pat down search.

I guess beyond me too. I don't know what you mean?

None of that sounded like a political discussion, it was more like

"MEANNESS and LACK OF RESPECT "

I was not equating it to anything but the source.

Some of the Tea Party groups have valid points about various things. Not sure what kind of ideas the new Villages Tea Party espouses??

Some of the things that I have heard from various Tea Party candidates ring true:

I do believe that they should allow "In God We Trust" in more places, just as long as this is not strictly a Judeo-Christian God. Americans should respect other religions as well as their own.

Something does need to be done about simplifying the Tax Code.

There also seems to be way too much bureaucracy for bureaucracy's sake.

Check history real close. Lincoln was a Whig Party leader and Illinois state legislator. We all know how many governors from that glorous state are being fed and housed by the tax payer. Might not be such a good thing to be quoting him.

Figmo, my friend, Lincoln had been a Whig Party leader but was a Republican (a moderate Republican, I might add) when he got the Presidential nomination. After the Civil War, Lincoln used his oratorical skill in trying to get the nation to think as one country again and not to punish the South harshly.

How can we learn anything from the tea party?
The tea bags that got elected in 2010 have done
nothing! Nothing to cut spending. Nothing to create
jobs. But they have received a sweet healthcare
plan and have a great pension system paid for
by taxpayers, while the revile civil servants that
pay for their own pensions.

Buggyone: Make up mymind are liberals for green or not. The Tea Party is using candles hopping to draw some liberals like you to their meetings so ou can see for yorself that they are wonderful people who love their country and as such want to be involved.

I am unable to attend but plan on attending in the future.

Once a Whig, alway a Whig, being elected Governor of Illionis, chances of going to jail 92% or there abouts. :loco::rolleyes: Might want to think twice about voting for anyone from there again.:police:

It would be fun to attend so I could see for myself what it is about. There has been so much hate and misinformation directed toward this group. I would like to decide about them myself without the hate infused posts and stories written about them.
I don't live there YET so I think I will find one here in Texas to find out why these people are SO BAD.

How did the tea party meeting go last week? Did everyone overindulge in Long Island Iced Tea to drown their sorrows over the huge conservative losses in the past 2 weeks? What kind words were expressed toward Chief Justice Roberts?

I appoligize if I offended you. I have only known 2 people that claimed the Tea Party as their Party. They were both over the top racists, but I agree that not all tea party members fall into that catagory.

I have not decided yet who I will vote for as it depends on the VP pick by Romney. I am leaning Romney, but VP is important to me.

Your post is one of the reasons why I totally oppose labels. All Republicans are this....all Democrats are this....Tea Party folks are this.

I cannot think of many groups in the world that can be labeled under one label whatsoever. But it is easier....today we have stopped listening. Once we have these labels on everyones head, we no longer have to listen....big part of our problems.

The "perfect" ideology does not exist on either side under any label.

far too many people talk about minority (not race this time) issues or isolated reports or isolated incidents and represent them as general conditions. Especially if it makes their case or point or counterpoint for them.

They readily accept the notion that when looking at the world through a straw, they categorize what they see as what is going on in the world....as in looking at an elephant through a straw they would contend the world is indeed gray (the media uses these type optics on issues all the time...and many everything has to be partisans live by this method.

actually, the speaker at la hacienda monday night is a black conservative and author. if you have concerns about racism in the Tea Party (not a political party, by the way) you should go there and listen to him speak! either one of the meetings will open your minds....and thursday night there is a wonderful program open to the public put on by Americans for Prosperity, as well as a conservative liberty alliance meeting on tuesday nights...usually can be found in the rec news at rec centers schedules. will post more info soon. these are all in the Villages. lots of information to be had for those who will listen (let him who has ears, hear!)

Monday is always "boys night out" for me and my friends and Twilight Golf is on the agenda, or I would probably go. For me it would be "preaching to the choir" anyway.

Someday, I've got to make a meeting though.

How many of you actually know who Alinski was and what he stood for? Read the link and you should find it interesting at least from a historical viewpoint. History - Salon.com (http://www.salon.com/2012/02/07/saul_alinsky_the_activist_who_terrifies_the_right/)

Could you link me to the TEA PARTY on here talking about Saul Alinsky ?

Thanks.

Only mention I know is when YOU brought it up and I gave a quick reply, and then responded to COLOGAL who asked a question.

I must have missed the Tea Party talking about him !!

Thanks..would appreciate it as I have studied him in detail..at least as much as I can get my hands on...please link me to that where they brought it up

Thanks again

PS...Message to VK....I did not bring it up, I swear. Will let you know who did when buggyone lets me know. (this is a longstanding conversation that VK has had with me on Alinsky who thinks I have brought it up sufficiently and I have not brought him up, only responded so this is important :) This goes back FOUR years by the way

I did not say the tea party posters here on this forum liked quoting from Alinski. You assumed it. Please stop attacking me like that. Ask the question one time but you asked 5 times in that one post.

Google "tea party and alinski" and you will find hundreds of sites where quotes are made about alinski.

I put the link on as a piece of information for those - me included - who know next to nothing about Alinski. It gives a pretty interesting historical background.

I did not know you heard from Tea Partiers at other places and thus I apologize cause I never saw it on here. Made an assumption, and frankly never heard any Tea Partiers ever discuss him but would not be surprised.

There is a lot to read on this man...but this was discussed quite a bit on here in 2007 and 2008.

It is interesting to note something like this on Alinsky...

"CNN's Soledad O'Brien would not brand Saul Alinsky as a leftist radical, and neither would she say President Obama was influenced by his writings – but she had no problem tying Alinsky's controversial beliefs to the Tea Party movement on Monday's Starting Line.

As a community organizer in Chicago, Barack Obama mirrored the tactics Alinsky laid out in his book "Rules for Radicals" – which featured a tribute to the devil Lucifer, "the very first radical." GOP candidate Newt Gingrich has recently connected Obama's beliefs with Alinsky's, sparking a media debate over the matter."

Sort of the reverse of where that last post was going and some stretch HOWEVER if you read Alinsky it may not be.

CNN Bypasses Obama-Alinsky Ties, but Links Tea Party to Alinsky | Media Research Center (http://www.mrc.org/node/38941)

I know that Gingrich brings him up a lot !

I don't think an FBI informant is a snitch but I do wonder if Darby planned the attack to entrap the others. Either way, a couple of bad guys got put away so Darby did good. If it was an actual plan for anarachists to hurt people and they got caught before it was done, that was excellent work.

I think it is wrong, though, for Darby and others, to be equating anarchist terrorism with the ones of us who are liberal in our social and political thinking. That is just as bad as liberals equating conservative minded people with killings of abortion doctors.

I seem to remember a lot of finger pointing at conservatives after the Oklahoma bombing of Timothy McVeigh. The liberal media and certain liberal politicians (re: Bill Clinton) were very guilty of this.
