I have a friend that belongs to it who asked me to join about a month or more ago. I had to decline for personal reasons. Their website is The Villages Tea Party Home Page (http://www.thevillagesteaparty.org/)

I am not a "Tea Party" member. In fact, I'm not all that political and never vote according to so-called party lines. I don't see how this thread as "Political!!!!", as you state. I see it as someone asking for information as they might for any club, activity, doctor, handyman, or Indian chief .... opps, did I offend anyone with that last one? Probably.

Just goes to show you that some folks don't know the difference between political and informational. Sad world that we live in.

Hey folks, the world is changing; at one time the phrase "tea party" was an innocuous phrase and conjured up ladies who lunch. Now it can start WWIII.:chilout

Stop, you're both right. It is information about a political club. Sheesh.

The neat part is that Jimbo pops the corn using solar only (note 1), quite a show :1rotfl:

1. In case you not follow golf cart discussions on TOTV, Jimbo keeps us informed about on solar panels for electric carts.

Political!!!! :(I just read through a similar thread from last year where it was someone giving information about The Villages Democrat Club with information that was leaning a whole lot more towards political that this one did. You must have missed that thread or I'm sure you would have said something similar there.

The Original Post on the thread referenced above: https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/294567-post1.html

Anyway, the Tea Party is not even a political party like the Democrats are, so what's the big deal with this post over the one in the above link?

p.s. I am not a member of the Tea Party club or any other club or organization associated with the Tea Party.

The most interesting thing about the link from last Sept. announcing a Democrat Club meeting is the absence of a single comment from anyone. It was so quiet there weren't even crickets chirping.

Now this post about a meeting at a new Tea Party Coalition Club in the Villages brings out much discussion, good and ridiculous.

it's very interesting and revealing.

hi Trish sorry it took me so long to get back to you as I run several other clubs in the villages.

The tea party club will meet again this Monday night at LaHacienda at 6:30. You asked for info about the club. The goals of the tea party are as follows:

Protect the constitution, Reject cap and trade, demand a balanced budget, enact fundamental tax reform, restore fiscal responsibility and constitutionally limited government in Washington, end runaway government spending, de-fund, repeal and replace government run health care, pass an "all of the above energy policy" stop the pork, stop tax hikes.

I could go into further details however to keep it "politically correct" you should probably visit the political boards. Just wanted to give you an overview of the tea party and what we stand for.

Try to make a meeting and you can judge better for yourself!! Hope to see you there.

I should have added a note Trish that we usually have special speakers every week and unlike some other clubs our speakers are OPEN to questions from the audience which makes for a "fair and balanced" club. They are well educated, come prepared with facts only, and are pleased to help america understand what exactly is going on in the country. It's a fabulous club and membership is growing rapidly!! This monday at LaHacienda rec center at 6:30 pm Meeting usually goest till 8 pm.

Just a reminder, this thread is about a club within the Villages. Please refrain from making partisan political statements in this thread and keep the discussion to club meetings, logistics, membership etc.

There is an active thread in the Political forum where the discussion is more free wheeling.

Thanks.
