During my recent travels along the Golf Cart (or multi-modal) paths, I have noticed on several occasions, small creatures scurrying off the path into the bushes. These creatures were dark furred, pointy nosed animals with long hairless tails, and looked very much like rats. I know they were not bunny rabbits or squirrels.
So if you see a coyote or foxes in your neighborhood, welcome them. We need these predators! A few more large snakes might also be helpful.
Best wishes.

Haven't seen any coyotes, but I've met a cougar or two...

Seen two coyotes and maybe two dozen cougars here in the Villages over the past 7 years.

Could they have been opossums?

Yesterday on my way home in the golf cart, I saw a RAT along the path near the entrance to Liberty Park! I was amazed! I never thought about rats......yes, bring on the predators!

Don't think these were possums. Much smaller than possums I have seen. But definitely larger than mice. Looked like rats to me.

The one I saw had a long tail....and don't moles have a longish snout? Who knows, I would rather it be a mole than a rat anyway!

The weird squirrels are eastern fox squirrels.
