Most of Arizona immigration law is struck down, but the 'stop and check' part is upheld, according to NBC News. The high court strikes down three of four provisions. On net, the SB1070 decision is a significant win for the Obama Administration.

But left the "papers please" part of the law open to further legal action too.

I wonder how many Canadians will be asked for their papers in Arizona?

I wonder how many Canadians will be asked for their papers in Arizona?
Probably none, since it is too far for Canadians to walk/run over the border and into Arizona.

buggyone: I wonder how many Candaians cross the border illegally? Hmmmm
The only concern I have with profiling is that law enforcement may become too complacent and miss some opportunities. Profiling works

Just what do you think the BAU does for the FBI to catch serial killers. PROFILE. OMG, we must make them stop that, its not fair.

Not many cuz they don't appear to be Latino. You can bet there will be profiling.

Everyone profiles, we just don't want to admit it.

I agree, unfortunately. Lawyers profile clients, cops profile suspects, hookers profile johns, criminals profile victims, salesmen profile easy marks, etc.
The bad part of this though is when the profiling is done just in terms of race, national origin, sex, sexual preference, existence of mental illness, homelessness, etc.

we don't have the illegal alien problem with the Canadian border and they are not an entity that can vote....hence of no consequence to Obama and his court. And really not a valid comparison to the wide open, y'all come for those coming from the south.
Just look at the stupidity of the ruling....yes law enforcement is allowed to ask for papers.....and also illegals are allowed to NOT HAVE PAPERS!!!!! So law enforcement would then call ICE who will most likely not enforce the immigration laws.
So in essence the welcome sign is out.
Some are complaining about the confusion with the new ruling. I don't see any confusion at all. There was no enforcement by the federal government before the announcement and there certainly will not be any now for sure.
All the supreme court did was to solidify that illegal immigration is a political pawn....nothing more.
America as a rule of law is being turned into a joke.

The Obama Administration has been deporting close to 400,000 people per year, 30% more than the Bush Administration did, and doubled the number of agents on the border.
The newspaper stated that several Canadians have been removed from the voter's rolls in the voter purge that Gov Rick Scott is conducting, because they were not US citizens.

The Court did nothing but muddy the waters even more. I get so sick of all this needless fighting and the politicans afraid that they won't be reelected!

Very interesting that Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the more liberal side of the Court when voting down one of the three provisions of the Arizona law.
Interesting also was that one of the Supreme Court justices recused themself from the case. Justice Kagan had worked on the case while employed as White House Counsel. This also shows the great integrity of the Supreme Court when decisions are critical.

hmmmmnnnnn.....since we are bound to be battered by isolated incidents used as counter point........... the problem was... is....and will continue to be...... with MEXICO and the problem is in the tens of millions and growing......
Another point to research is the status of being "deported". It was reported in one of the news agencies that some illegal immigrants children were not concerned with being deported since after the court order to be deported was given that was the end of it. The deportation was not being enforced due to lack of resources to follow that many. Pretty consistent, worthless and costly charade.
Y'all better be encouraging your grand children and great grand children to learn Spanish!!!!!!!!!!!!
