As time get closer we are really looking forward to our trip. We want to thank you all for some great tips. We were wondering if anyone could recommend some good places to eat? We know all the chain restaurants link The Outback and Applebys. What are some of the local spots?

Oakwood Smokehouse route 441 Lady Lake for some of the best ribs and BBQ we've ever had.
Cane Garden Country Club for their famous meat loaf,
Bonifay Country Club for their $5.95 fabulous breakfast buffet.

There are many threads on people's favorite eating places.

Skyhawk is correct - oakwood and cane garden are stellar. Our favorite is Mallory Hill CC which is managed by the same folks as Cane. Lopez on Monday nite for the Lobster special is a must. The Cattle Baron, upstairs at Katie Belles, has a great salad, soup, and bread bar, and some pretty good entrees (get a small steak and potatoes with the salad bar for 9.99). Sonny's barbeque is almost as good as Oakwood and very close to the Creekside Cabanas, and has an all you can eat rib special on Thursday nite. Lighthouse has great casual atmosphere and good seafood (try the butterfish or baked haddock). TooJays at Spanish Springs or Sumter is our favorite for breakfast and good for lunch. Sunday brunch at Katie Belles or Hacienda CC is a favorite and Billy's if you can get a table. Athens next to Katie Belles is good for dinner, and, I am told, for a reasonable breakfast. So many options it is hard to go wrong.

With respect to Ed for all his beneficial posts..........

For Pat and Al and perhaps some other newer folks as well - a clarification on eweissenbach's post: You'll want to look for 'Mallory Hill' - the restaurant at Mallory Hill Country Club. 'Mallory Square' is one of the village names.

A minor point......but I can see how it could be perhaps confusing for some who aren't yet familiar with all the naming!

Save room for desert. There's a Haagen Daz in LSL.

Thai Ruby and City Fire in Lake Sumter Landing. Luiginos in Spanish Springs (it has received mixed reviews, but I had a very good dinner there 2 weeks ago).

As mentioned before, Cane Garden for their delicious meatloaf. Athens Diner in Spanish Springs -- I've only had breakfast there; it was very good. Too Jays in either Spanish Springs or Lake Sumter Landing. You won't starve in TV!
