I finally got my quilting stuff unpacked and am finishing a couple of UFOs. Typically, I am thinking about next projects. I've heard about the wonderful quilt shops in Florida but so far haven't found any. Joann is OK for basic stuff but I would like to find some local shops. IMHO they usually have more interesting fabrics and finishings. I have ordered online with mixed success. Any advice would be appreciated. Are there any nearby artsy-fartsy Woodstock-type areas with quilt shops and aromatherapy boutiques. You know what I mean.

There are 2 very nice quilt shops in Ocala.

Tomorrows Treasures. 6126 sw state road 200. Jasmine Square 352 690-1915

Peggy's heirlooms. 4414 SW college rd. that would be off 200 also in the Dillard's shopping center. 352 351-8282

Both are unique but I liked Treasures best for selection

If you go to Ocala via I 75, turn West onto SR200. I don't know the name of the shopping center but there is a Dillard's on the left. Turn into that center and bare left. You will see Peggy's in that group of shops.

Tomorrow's is further West on SR200 in a small group of stores on the left. I remember thinking it was further down 200 than I thought it would be. I almost gave up and turned around before I found it.

Peggy's heirloom went out of business about 6 months ago. There is a new shop on 441 just north of Del Webb called Sew Simple Boutique. It's got some real nice stuff.

I forgot, there is a very nice quilt shop in Mt Dora, not far away, called Sew Mini Things. It's a nice trip since there are great antique shops and restaurants in the area.
