We built a expanded Lantana and when it was completed we were told that due to the expansions that they installed long roof vents rather than the roof domes that most homes have. We called the warranty dept and they said that was according to plans.

Has anyone else experienced this with their homes?

Do U think that's bad?

There are usually no problems with "long" vents, more commonly known as ridge vents. There are different types, some better then others. I prefer the ones most use now that have matching cap shingles on top as they look better and have less problems then the older aluminum ridge vents.

Usually the "dome vents" are used on Hip roofs where you do not have a long ridge to have a ridge vent.

Exactly!

Look at the roof structure of the homes around TV that have the round vents versus the ridge vents.

Adequate ridge venting is an impossibility on some roof designs.

No reason you can't have both if needed or wanted.

A ridge vent is more effective but if a short ridge is a problem use a short ridge vent and add a round vent.

Most of the houses I've seen, here in St. James, have both.
