Can anyone in Fernandina recommend a Home Watch Service? We are in Unit 207 and will be closing during the week of Labor Day.
We’ll only be using the house as a vacation home for the next few years and would feel better if we knew it was being looked at on a weekly basis.
If there are any Home Watch Services that read this and are willing to take on a new home in Fernandina , please feel free to PM me with your contact information.
Thanks…

I have the best home watch service I could ever wish for. The Village Sitter, Charlene and Steve Manieri, phone numbers 352 633 5063 or
267 481 0588 have been our life savers in regard to watching our home and also being meticulous, observant, proactive and diligent on every aspect of what has gone on since we hired them. Some examples: noticing the irrigation system was leaking; finding a leak under our bathroom sink; finding doors open after hours when construction was taking place; killing fire ant mounds; finding our new furniture coverings had been taken off and disappeared and getting to the bottom of it; finding shoddy workmanshp and letting us know; waiting for furniture deliveries; fixing the timers on the watering; the list goes on. We have a brand new place and they have not missed anything in regard to ensuring it stays perfect. I am happy to highly recommend them. Charlene is a fantastic communicator and will let you know if something is wrong, if everything is fine, and she sends pictures of every issue she encounters. We are thrilled we hired Charlene and Steve and in fact our neighbor did as well. They give you peace of mind.

The Village Homeowners Insurance is recommending Jeff Halstead for Homewatch. Has anyone ever used him before?

We use Jeff from The Home Watch, as do our neighbors. He checks things well each week, and lets us know of any issues. He noticed a small patch in front yard appearing dry and emailed me right away. A single call to Stellar and they were on it. Adjusted the sprinkler that had become blocked by a shrub, and treated an area that was appearing to be a fungus. Unrelated kudos to Stellar, sorry.
Jeff has also met numerous people at the house doing service work and reports on their progress. He met with a floor repairman more than once until the job was done, and let me know it was done right.
$10/visit, and makes it every week.
We are completely satisfied. Also has a computer repair side job, so when we move down and wire the house, he'll be call upon for help.
I would also suggest checking with close neighbors and if they are happy with who they use, you might use the same one. Strength in numbers, so to speak. Jeff makes his visits to our area coincide.
But, it looks like you have many good recommendations. I have found on this site if a business chooses to mess over one person, it becomes a very public impact on their business. And if that one person's claim seems unfounded, other satisfied clients will freely give their opinions as well. That is the power of TOTV.
Have a great day!!

Wow! I can't believe I'm still receiving information from this request which I originally posted in July of 2012.
The one thing I've learned is that people feel very strongly about their Home Watch Service and are always willing to pass on good information.
For anyone that is interested, I signed up with The Village Sitter, and we are completely satistified. I would recommend Charlene to anyone that needs a Home Watch Service -- very professional and a great communicator.

While I respect all the other opinions, TOTY steered me in the direction of REDWITCH. She is awesome and has the best tested contacts and advice for new TV homeowners. She takes charge and takes care of all the little things while we you are not there. She is a regular contributor to the forum and can be easily found to PM. Her website is:
