View Full Version : Our Turn

One year ago to date we bought a Sand lot in Tamarind Grove. Seems like yesterday.
Gracie and our friends on TOTV said the year would go fast. We were so envious of all who had gone before us, settled in their homes and were now enjoying the new life.
So it's now our turn for the last move bundle of nerves show. Looking at the Penske Truck the Car Carrier and what seems to be more multipling cardboard boxes.
Saying Goodbye to the darling GrandKids and their parents. Looking around the home thinking what the Heck did we do. What were we thinking?
Hope it all settles out over the next few months. For all of you who have been through this it is now your turn to chuckle and say "Been there Done that!" For all you new viewers or those soon waiting your turn. Your next.
Leaving tomorrow AM and it's Wagon Ho! to TV.

We too have a home in Tamarind Grove, it's on Carriage Hill Way. It will be one year from today when we will be moving to TV permanently. It's so hard to just visit once a month for a weekend but as you said a year goes by very quickly. Tamarind Grove is a beautiful village and we absolutely love it!

We just had our one year anniversary of living in Tamarind Grove on July 5th. In that year we have seen a lot of growth firsthand.
We live on the golf side in Southern Star Villas which there are 88 units. We have one street outside the villas on the golf side, which is Odessa Circle. There are 80 lots on Odessa Circle, and the last lot is under construction and the home is almost finished. That will make the golf side completely done with construction, it was pretty amazing since on my daily bicycle trip I witnessed about 20 of those homes going up.

Welcome! Just FYI 3 of my teenaged grandchildren just went back to N C after a 2 weeks visit and wrote me a thank you note saying they were glad we were here in Fla and it made visiting us more special than when we lived in NC near them! I think so too!

I feel your pain of leaving your family and your joy of coming to TV. I feel a bit homesick, but each day I can't believe we live here. If I get homesick enough I'll just hop on a plane and in 3 hours I'll be there.....problem solved. Have a safe trip and looking forward to meeting you some day! The best is yet to come.

Thanks all! Long day cleaning out the odds and ends of the rental home. Not to mention the owner sold it so we had new owners, real estate etc running among us all day.
I will admit. I was cussing as my Man machine Silverado Pickup is gone and I was manuvering a very low slung Prius up on the Car Hauler. That was somewhat tricky. But about 8 tonight we got it all done.
Tomorrow we leave and the best part! Hey we don't have to hurry. We can take this Pee-Wee big adventure at out own pace.
Ruth says until were settled my only cart will be a shopping cart ! And then I can change my name from The CarGuys to The CartGuy.
Appreciate your safe wishes! Last meal at Dougs Fish fry in Skaneateles.

Great news Herv!
I've enjoyed our talks and e-mails. You will be amazed how fast NY will become a distant memory.....I do not miss it at all. Once that pension check starts to go to direct deposit, you will not even have that "State of New York" check once a month in your mailbox to remind you.
For many of us leaving was bittersweet, but in life one regrets more what we do not do then what we do. For every person who regrets the move down here, (I suppose there are some), there are dozens who think it was the best thing they ever did. Living well is the best revenge they say.
Drive slow through Waldo, Starke and Lawtey on 301 if that is the way you are coming.
In life as well as in your trip, look mostly through the windshield and only a little bit through the rear view mirror......
See you soon! (I need some Amsoil...! )

Frank , night one down. We stopped short of the bad storms. Prius s getting 1250 miles to the gallon. Well on a trailer lol.
And while in the moving truck I just looked. No rear view mirror.
In life as well as in your trip, look mostly through the windshield and only a little bit through the rear view mirror......
(I need some Amsoil...! ) no problem for you or any villager. You get it at my cost.

Drive safe my friend, and enjoy the trip.
After driving down and back for about 5 years, it was great knowing that last time down was truly a "One way trip".
You will find it takes awhile to get used to the new life. You will always be in a hurry for awhile....it takes a couple of months before you realize you have "from now on..." to do almost anything.
Changing to a Fl driver's license and Fl plates felt good also.
