Exciting news! At least to us. Just got a firm contract on our house in PA - now waiting for a "design team" appointment. Will be searching for a rental...But one of the big questions we have, is in registering our cars and our RV. Have heard many horror stories on how much they cost in FL....true? Also, how big of a deal is it to get a FL drivers license? Is it a simple trade _ my PA license for your FL license? How much is that going to cost? HELP!

First it was not a simple swap and it can be pain in the rear. Need SS card or w-2 to prove SS#, 2 different documents (originals only!) showing your TV address i.e mortgage statement and homeowner's insurance, birth cert or passport, title to your vehicles. If both of you are registered owners then both must appear when applying for new registration and tags. Also must have proof of FL auto ins. before you go. All info you need is on FL DMV website. Registered a 2003 suv and it cost me $507 for DL, car registration, tags. Voter registration is free! If you have all the info then the experience is quick and easy at least in Sumter County at the offices in Wildwood. Hope this helps. Good Luck and welcome to TV.

Congrats..you can't be very far from us if you live close to Gettysburg. We live in New Freedom. Good to hear your home has sold in PA! :pepper2:

No, just the initial registration. About $ 60 per car annually. DL is good for 8 years.

Yes that was an eye opener for us too. The $450.00 fee to register our car. Thank goodness it's a one time deal, but if you have to get another regerstration for another car in the future, like buying a new car and no plate for that you have to pay another fee. Make sure you have proof as to who you are and things will go smoothly. We went to the DMV in the spruce creek shopping mall behind the mcDonalds on 441.

Since the voters registration is free, maybe get the voters registration, then go vote out that damn $450 fee :) Ridiculous.

This State of Florida is getting to sound more and more like "Taxacusetts" We left MA to get away from all of the taxes and fees. I'm beginning to think I left the frying pan for the fire.

We just left CT which has been voted "the highest taxed state". But I know I never paid $450 to register an auto.. Certainly encourages buy and hold.
