Appearing on Faux News Tuesday morning, Ed Rollins sums up the GOP

"It is a bunch of old white guys. Unfortunately, a lot of them are fat like me," he said. "We need to basically broaden the base. We need to have more women. We need to have more Latinos. We need to have more African Americans."

Sorry, Ed, but I gotta disagree with you - respectfully, of course.

The GOP is just fine as it is. You don't need women, or latinos, or blacks, or the college educated. The GOP is doing the right thing in keeping all these groups at arms distance. As Mike Steele once said - they are welcome to our house, but they can't tell us what to do.

Mitt Romney appeared at the NAACP convention today in Houston and got soundly booed when he said he would repeal the Affordable Care Act, which he called Obamacare. Romney does deserve credit for showing up, which is more than George W Bush did in his eight years as president. Perhaps he was trying to improve his 1% ranking with the African-American community. If he did, he failed.

I made a mistake and responded to one of these and got a statement from a Democratic governor supporting Obama care...great discussion and shocking news. Some folks seem to owe their soul to the PARTY !!!!!!

Romney also got a standing ovation.

Romney also got a standing ovation.

Probably because he was leaving!

I would suggest to Ed Rollins that he has focused only on the GOP establishment and then he has narrowed his prospective. The GOP also consists of evangelicals and Tea Party participants both of which comprise a cross section of America.

This is the by far the most ignorant thread ever written about the GOP in the Political section of the TOTV forum.

It has no basis in reality or intelligent discourse.

What's the purpose of this post??

Unfortunately, it was said by a republican strategist not some left-wing blogger. Ed Rollins didn't say anything that polls have not shown consistently.

Romney also got a standing ovation.

Unfortunately for Romney, the boos are getting all the press today not the tepid standing ovation he received.

The real test is what these folks do after the fact. Often people are timid, concerned intimated in a group and so will not act or express an opinion. Some will have instantly reacted because they prejudged Romney. However when the emotions settle down they may well change their opinion recognizing that Romney had risked a lot to stand in front of them to share his ideas for a better America knowing they would react negatively and hoping they would set aside their biases and apply some logical thinking about what he had shared and how it would benefit them.

is there anybody who thinks for one moment the media would report on ANY positive aspects of Romney's speech to the NAACP? Of course not. Not any more than the Obama loyalists on this thread would do anything other than bash, snipe or call names about ANYTHING that is opposed to their liking.

Fortunately some of us still believe that what we read and hear....all the negative stuff on the media, this forum and any other quorum's negative stance represents the minority points, counter points or issues.

And yes there will be many democrats that will maintain their front so as not to be stoned by their peers, but will vote against Obama in the privacy of the voting booth.

One thing the democratic, no matter what loyalists cannot do. That is to assure their peers they will not suffer the same ills that will befall the rest of us. And in that there is hope that common sense at some point over rides blind partisan support.

Republicans, do not forget that your spouses maintain their "solid conservative" front so as not to be castigated by you, but will vote for Obama in the privacy of the voting booth - but will still tell you they voted for Romney. Oh yeah, this cancels out your vote, too.

I am more convinced with each counter point that you folks do in deed to some education or treatment for nasty response. The reply above may be tongue in cheek sounding, but I happen to believe that much of what one cannot say out rite is cast in humor.

The post also demonstrates there is no floor or bottom to how low some need to or can go to in order to deliver their self indulging wit. Every time a new low is achieved they startle us with the next even lower stoop. The only thing I can think of is it must have an orgasmic effect. Why else would one continue to do that?

BTK, can you categorically say what I wrote cannot and does not happen within The Villages or anywhere else?

What goes on inside the voting booth may be completely different than what a spouse has been telling his/her spouse just to avoid ruffling any feathers in the marriage.

No self-indulging wit was intended. It is a perfectly plausible scenario.

buggyone: I am certainly no expert but my sense is that for most women its more of whom and what will continue to have a negative affect on my family which translates into economics and economics is not Obama's strong point

you said it perfectly, rubicon!

Also agree with Rubicon, what does Romney have to lose addressing the NAACP, I think 93% of the black vote went to Obama last time, as the song says nothing from nothing equals nothing! Maybe only 85% of the black vote will go to Obama this time.

You think all women are anti American values? You think women don't pay attention to the Democrats destroying their country?

You must live in a liberal cave.

More abundant nastiness from the left.

It's why they will lose.

Addressing to RichieLion, BTK, and Rubicon specifically -

Again, I say, can you categorically say that there is no instance of the spouse voting different from what they say with their spouse in The Villages or elsewhere just to avoid ruffling the feathers in a marriage?
