Hi fellow cruisers.......I booked a surprise cruise for my wife (Shhhhhh) on the Independence of The Seas for 6 nights leaving Jan 27 from Ft. Lauderdale. I just read in the paper that it's the Rocky and The Rollers Cruise also. Anybody out there signed up for this cruise? They have a roll call started on CruiseCritics.com but I haven't seen anything about fellow Villager's signed up on the meet and mingle site.

My husband & I are going on the same cruise. Yes, it is with Rocky & The Rollers. However, it was my understanding that only those that signed up thru AAA specifically for "The Rocky & The Rollers" cruise, would be able to go to the private parties, ie "Prom Nite", "Sock Hop", etc. They're also providing transportation to and from the port in Ft. Lauderdale. I could be wrong about the private parties, but I don't think so. I hear this is the 7th annual Rocky & The Rollers Cruise. Sounds like fun. I was told they booked 200 cabins for this cruise. I was told most of those cabins were booked by people in The Villages. It's a great way to meet people from here. I'm sure your wife will love it. It'll be a great surprise. Maybe we'll all bump into each other on the ship. Have fun!!!! Trish

It should be a blast! I read in the paper last week there were only 35 cabins left to sell for Rocky & the Rollers.

Your right Trish, because we didn't book with AAA we can't attend the private parties and of course we're not eligible for the transportation. I thought about cancelling and then going with AAA but the cost was twice what I'm paying for a JS on the hump. I'll just look forward to meeting fellow Villager's around the ship.

I was on the Rocky and the Rollers Cruise in February, 2012 and it was so much fun.
We were a 7 day cruise out of San Juan and there were 5 private shows for the 235 members of the Cruise. It was on Royal Caribbean and even though I do not care for that line, it was a super cruise.
The Sock Hop actually felt like we were back in high school and the feeling of love in the arena was unbelievable.
If Tommy Mara is on the program, it will be even better. I do not know what Mary Jo Vitale will add because this is not her type of music or genre.
You will have a great time.

You're absolutely right Skip2MySue, we realized after we booked that it was much more expensive to book it through AAA. Actually, we're all probably paying for all the entertainers, ie "Rocky & The Rollers", etc. We're doing it for our 10th anniversary, so we'll just enjoy it. Perhaps we'll bump into you and your wife on the cruise. Trish

You are right, the reason it is more expensive is you are paying for the entertainers and the special theater set-up. They have the AAA people right at the theater entrance to ensure no one who is not a Rocky & Rollers cruiser gets in for the special performances each night. A few try sneaking in but it did not work as far as I could tell.
For us, it was just about the same price as what we could have gotten for the regular cruise because of some promotional discounts, stock perks for onboard credits, and a little bit of negotiation with Debbi of AAA.
It was a great trip and so much fun to meet all the entertainers. Bowzer of ShaNaNa is a great guy and enjoyed meeting the guests.
