I have an Android phone (since April), but a lot of the apps are available for both types of phones -- Flixster and Fandango for movies, allrecipes for recipes, brightest flashlight which makes a very bright flashlight, TV guide for TV listings, mapquest, tunein radio, xe currency converter, Orlando airport guide, Orlando travel guide. Many larger banks now have apps -- Chase and Citibank both have them. Several Chicago TV station apps., weather.com, weather bug and accuweather. Free Scrabble -- fun but some ads pop up. Angry Birds -- don't quite get the appeal, but fun to play for a few minutes. Chicago Transit Authority app.
These smart phones are addictive. Have fun with yours.

Inrix for traffic. Found it great around Phila.
Made a folder for shopping and have Red Laser to read bar codes, RetailMeNot for coupons at almost any store, coupons also at Coupon Sherpa and Key Ring for all your little bar cards. Transfer into this and get rid of those little filthy cards on your key ring. Of course, The Villages Town Squares now has one with the movies and entertainment for all 3 squares. Gas Buddy for the current price of gas locally or on the road. Yelp will come in handy to locate any store wherever you are. I just got Hear Planet which will give you a tour guide's talk based on where you are. You should hear what they say about The Villages! (very outdated for here). My iphone is new but some of these were suggested by my daughter, an avid user.

Weather Channel and Code Red for Weather Alerts, mapQuest, Town Squares (for Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter). Have fun with your new phone. If you like to read, Kindle. There are even free books available.

That's just to name a few!! Of course I love my angry bird games to kill time.
Don't forget Fruit Ninja, the free version.....:). My 8 year old grandson had us download the game when we visited him in Chicago last month. Figured I'd just erase it when I got home....well, really started playing the game....it's fun!
If you are a Netflix and/or HBO subscriber, you can download the apps for both and watch a movie or series when you want to.
There are many wonderful apps, enjoy!

Well the most IMPORTANT one is The Villages!!! I tell you, it saved us in November when we were there buying our place and had an electric cart which died out near Orange Blossom somewhere and we were staying at Bridgeport at Sumter-it was our rental house golf cart. I used my application on my IPHONE which had the phone number of someone who tows carts, he came right out, loaded the cart and drove us home for like $50. We felt blessed!!! Here are the categories:
Emergency and Healthcare; Entertainment; Golf courses and Tee Times; rec Centers; Restaurants; Miscellaneous; Weather; Recent Articles

Our family does a lot of air travel so my favorite app is Flight View. It is a free app and you are able to follow a flight from takeoff to landing.
