Doggie doors in the lanai enclosure seem to be very common. I'll find someone to do that.
I did a pretty good search and have not found anything, so here is the question.
We are looking for another, additional, doggy door in the slider that goes out to the lanai. We heard somewhere (can't recall from who) that there are replacement glass panels that go in place of the NON-SLIDING side of the door, and the doggie door is in that panel. That way you still have full width on the sliding side. Does anyone have any info on that style doggie door? Has anyone seen one, or done it?
We did post this in the contractors area and there seems to be very little interest there, so we thought we'd try here. Thanks.

Thanks, I have done a lot of searching and have seen many of these. I think I misspoke a bit ... I should have asked if anyone has 1st hand experience with a doggie door. The "slip-in" doors seem to restrict the human fitting through the door easily. The replacement panels are quite pricey. The through the wall type is far less money, but permanently changes your home. We are in a stick built, not concrete so taking it out will not work very well! :o Might just need to get up, open the door and let the pups out, huh?

Honestly, I think you are better off letting them in and out. I know too many people that had other animal come through the door.

Really? We have a CYV, so another animal getting in is a bit less likely. I think. ??
BTW, for the folks that have looked at those full panel doggie doors .... the prices you see are for the glass only. Add on $100+ for shipping and another $100+ for installation, at least $50 more for double pane glass and you are knocking on $900-ish total. I did call one company and that is how it was explained to me. So the price you see on-line of $550 is just the beginning!

We are planning to buy a CYV in Mission Hills. My other problem with the doggy door is my dogs going out in the middle of the night because they hear something and start barking outside.

Alrighty then! I have never had any problems with snakes or rats in my yard, but then again, I've never lived in TV before! Sooooo, up I'll get and open the doors! Thanks.

If you get the kind of doggie door that you insert in the sliding glass door, it comes with a solid piece of plastic that slides down and shuts the door which you can use any time you don't want the dog or cat using the door.
