does the devoloper allow a free standing pergola or does it have to be attatched to your home.

Best bet is two fold:
First - take a read of your restrictions document that you got when you purchased your home.
Second - breeze through this posting: https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/contractors-services-91/constructing-pergula-29711/ Basicially, check with the Architectural Review Committee.

Lots of us are "experts" but may not have the most current facts, particularly as it applies to a specific area of The Villages. A good pergola really looks good - hope you can do it.

Get an estimate from Magellan Constr, that advertises as The Pergola Kings; You won't be sorry and at least feel confident that you checked around. If you'd like to see what they did for us send me a private message and we can hook up to do the same. Seeing is believing..

I built my own about 9 months ago. It is free standing and was approved by the ARB. No county permit needed if under 200 sq. ft.
