...now is your chance to party with Barack Obama. Birthday party that is. The President turns 51 on August 4, 2012.

I seem to get an e-mail like this from the Obama campaign every week or so. I have been a Democrat all my life. Michelle: Donate to Campaign to Celebrate Barack's Birthday | The Weekly Standard (http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/michelle-donate-campaign-celebrate-baracks-birthday_648635.html)

This is the same e-mail...but addressed to me of course... that I received a few hours ago.

Partying with lawyers is not my idea of fun though.

Think of it not as "partying with lawyers", but rather, as "butt-kissing with millionaires and billionaires".

I get these emails weekly and often daily, too, not because I'm a democrat but because they put me on the email mailing list when I sent a letter of complaint about a current policy in the news. (That was a waste of time.)

I know how you feel having written a ton of letters--- I mean this literally--to politicians and others when I was trying to help survivors/victims of crimes get better access to information about their rights and the services available to them from 1992 through 2002 or so. That's all well and good when the services are there but with the many budget cuts in city, state, and federal social services, I assume many of these programs have been cut severely in personnel and services available.
