New in Fernandina

We visited the Villages 3 times and the third time was the charm. We will close Friday for a patio villa on Bokeelia Pl. Not retired yet but we will spend several months in our new home next fall. It's been quite a trip for the past 30 days, esp. since we did it all long distance except purchase ALL the furniture(in fewer than 3 hours). We are looking forward to our visit. Let the countdown begin.

I'm your neighbor across the street at 1387 Bokeelia and I'm making settlement long distance on Sept. 7. I'll arrive mid-September. This will be my 4th trip to T.V. including a 2 month stay this past May & June. During that time I met quite a few people through dancing especially ballroom and I'm a beginner golfer. There are a million and one fun things to do and meeting nice people is certainly an important part of The Village lifestyle. I hope Fernandina turns out to be another happy village.

Our firiends who are closing in October had quite a bit of luck at Haverty's in Orlando. They said they were very helpful and easy to work with.

Hi ya all: I love hearing about all of my future neighbors in Fernadina. My wife, Marsha, and I are in section 206 on Partridge Avenue. We have to build it by May 2013, and plan to move there full-time in August 2013. The social and activity aspects of The Villages is what sold us on it ... and it is beautiful. I had been sold on the hype before I ever saw it, and, to my amazment, my rational better half actually fell in love with it when she first visited it.

I find it rather hilarious that we have only been in our home two months and are already old timers. FYI: There is a neighborhood group called the Fernandina Flockers (bird reference not movie), It had its first meeting a couple weeks ago and there were about 40 people. The next meeting is on Sept 15. I am not sure if they will meet again at Captiva or Bradenton will be open but if anyone is interested, pm me. Welcome all.

It seems like the only ones posting are those who have bought lots, waiting for the design team or waiting for their home to be built. Where are the folks who have bought patio villas in Fernandina. They just aren't posting.

Flockers as in birds because all the streets that were originally settled for the first meeting were bird names? People are flocking to Fernandina? I don't really know.

We had our meeting with Mary too. She was great. We had a few questions right before we came down for closing and she got back to us with the answers right a way. We closed last week and were very pleased with how it turned out.

I got an email inviting me to a Flocker gathering. When the "Grand Poo Pah" found out I was building on Lafayette Street unit 206, I got another email telling me that they were sorry to tell me that the group was for Bird named streets. Can you say Flockers . . . . three times . . . . real fast ??:D That's when I started reading up on what is involved in being a "Community Organizer". Well . . . . . we all know that won't work for me.

I went to the August meeting and I didn't get the sense it was just for Bird streets. I thought it was for all Fernandina people. I am going to look into this and will be posting. Hopefully I will get an answer by tomorrow morning.
