We will be closing on our house in Fernandina at the end of August. For now we will be spending time at our new home whenever we can get away from Northern VA. I am looking for Israeli's or other Hebrew speakers to spend time with.
I assume there is no Hebrew speaking club?

Shalom y'all back at ya! Welcome to Lower Paradise!
There's not a Hebrew speaking club to my knowledge, but the synagogue in TV (http://newjewishcongregation.org/) would be a good place to start. There are several other synagogues in the surrounding area. Here's a map link: Synagogues near TV (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&rl...ed=0CCkQtwMwAA)
Mazel Tov on your new Fernandina home and all best wishes!

Thank you ladies. I will have a shalom y'll sign for the door. I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I visited the temple at TV but TOTV seems to be a great way to meet people and get info so I thought I would try it. I teach many Hebrew classes to adults here so maybe one day in TV.

How difficult is it to learn Hebrew?? I'm not Jewish but am fascinated with the language.

Notgolfer - many of my students are not Jewish. The first class I teach is 10 hours total and the students can read by the end of the session. They read slow, but they do read. The Biblical Hebrew class where we translate from the bible is a little harder since you have to memorize vocabulary and some grammar. I will be happy to teach it when I am at TV for longer than a week or so at a time.

Hi, my husband and I will be part timers for a while. Moving to Village of Sanibel. Would love to meet and get information. He loves to sing with our choir here on long island.

Sara,
Sounds very interesting. While I can read Hebrew (slowly) I don't really understand what I am reading. We will be in Fernandina -part-timers to start, hopefully full time within 2 years. I'll keep checking for any updates from you.

Welcome to TOTV and congrats on your purchase. I can read Hebrew (that is I know the alphabet and can pronounce the words) but would be interested in learning the language, particularly biblical Hebrew. Please consider offering classes when you get here (maybe thru the College). Hurry down!

Daphne and Harvey, thanks. My husband is not Israeli and does not speak Hebrew but I would love to meet all of you and I am sure he would tag along. He is used to not understanding the conversations around him. We are just going to be vacationing but will call you. Where in Israel are you from? I am from Holon but I moved to NJ while in high school. So needless to say I have lived in the states many years.
L'hit,
