For the second time in 2 days, we passed an auto traveling north on the golf cart trail. It's clear when we pass that the driver knows they made a mistake but does't seem to know what to do to correct it. Where are these folks making a wrong turn? :police:

sounds like someone has failed to install those pipes that are supposed to prevent the entry of cars on the cart paths.

of course - they wouldn't prevent a wrong turn at the ohio river. [loved that :) ]

If they were going North, it must have been Grace going back to Ohio for a visit, huh? Seriously, I don't have a clue how somebody could get over on that trail. Exactly where on the trail did you see the cars-----same place both times?

Both times north of Sunset Point, and the post for the golf cart trail is in place at the entrance to Lake Miona Rec Center.

Where they get on is going West on Odell Circle, they enter right just before the gate to the Buena Vista/Bailey Trail circle. Then go out to Buena Vista and turn right on the cart path. There is no post there on Odell and a car can turn onto the cart path. Saw a car following a cart right out there once. They must see the cart turn, then see the gate arm, and follow the cart. Part of the problem is they use signs that use the term "cars" or "carts" and people with vision issues mis-read the sign. Words are to close to the same with just a single letter difference. All places where the word "cars" appear should be changed to "autos" and "carts" to "golf carts".

Best fix would be to paint all cart paths a different color (blue, pink, orange) and paint the words "No Autos" in a different color on the paths. Something so different that a car would know they are on the wrong place.

:agree: i2ridehd has a good idea, may be an offical color of the villages.... downside is we might be reading a thread about smart cars on golf courses.....

I agree with you l2riedhd about the wording on the signs. It confused me too when my wife and I were down for a visit. Even the 2nd visit, I found them confusing.

I really like that idea! It's just great to hear someone suggest a good solution to a problem instead of sitting around grumbling about it. And this is a particularly good one. Gold star to you! :bigbow:

Unfortunately its a common occurrence. I had a Lexus convertible run three of us (carts) off the cartpath while driving on buena vista gong fro Lake sumter Landing entrance to Brisgeport sumter landing. I also help some guy back his car up after he entered the buena vista cartpath at the bonnybrook gate. thand God SUV Minivans and crossover ar two large to fit on the divided entrances to carttpaths or are they not:22yikes:

I would take it a step further. Instead of the pvc pipes, I would install iron posts--I've seen too many of the pvc pipes damaged/removed by careless drivers. We all end up paying (indirectly) for the replacement of the plastic pipes.

cappyjon iron posts! Throughout the US State DOT's are installing break-a-way street lights etc to reduce fatal/serious injuries We have far too many residents here who because of thir health ought not to be operating anything including a mix master

While my post was mostly in jest (I know this never could/would happen), the large majority of these pipes are at the entrance to the cart paths and many of them say "STOP" on them. Carts or cars should (and I know should is the operative word here) be going slowly when they pass by these pipes. I don't know if cart paths can be compared to streets with break-away street lights, but obviously there are some drivers in TV who cannot tell the difference between streets and cart paths.

I'm not 100% certain (its been a while since I've been on the cart paths, someone correct me if I'm wrong), but I seem to remember some iron posts separating the golf course cart path from the multi-modal path (Buena Vista).

Sounds more like an idiot who shouldn't be allowed out of the house, especially to drive a car.

Well on one of our visits we ended up in the circle at LSL in the golf cart because we saw the sign that said no "cars" and we thought it said no "carts". It was our first venture out, unfortunately no one tried to help us get out, people just kept yelling at us and calling us idiots, we wondered where all the friendly people were. Fortunately we did get out and have meet a lot of friendly people.

We thought then that the posting should have said autos, not cars.

Speed limit in the roundabouts is 20mph, so no harm, no foul... It happens. You're not gonna die in a roundabout . . .
