Somethings in this world should never change. About time that our Military got it right for a change.

Sticking to their guns: Marines place $22.5M order for the Colt .45 M1911 | Fox News (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/07/28/marines-pay-22m-to-go-back-to-their-old-guns-colt-45-caliber-pistols/?test=latestnews)

Sounds like a rip-off to me. I divided 22.5 million dollars by the 12,000 Marines who will receive the pistol and it came out to $1,875 per pistol.

I wonder what the former Marines who obviously were consultants on the project got paid for their part in the deal.

That's about mid price for a good 1911 now a days. But I guess you have never been in a fire fight. I want the best pistol around, one that works everytime and you can't beat the old 1911 for that at any price. Google, Ed Brown or STI and check on some of their prices.

Wow, that is a lot of money for a pistol. No, I never was in a combat situation in the Army. I was a medic and my authorized weapon was the .45 pistol. I qualified with it.

I guess it's time to buy another model 1911. I hope this doesn't drive the price of used models up. However I still say a 45 for a civilian with not a lot of experience the best choice is a Glock.

There is nothing wrong with a Glock. I have a Gen 4 G34 in 9mm that I use in competition. Works everytime and is a pleasure to shoot. My other choice is the 1911 by Smith and Wesson. The price stated above is about what I paid for the basic pistol then had a little work done that put the price way over that. But it works everytime and will eat anything that I want to put thru it. Can't beat that.
