Death in America is largely a foodborne illness.

Here's an interesting video (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/uprooting-the-leading-causes-of-death/?utm_source=NutritionFacts.org&utm_campaign=12498d02d8-RSS_VIDEO_DAILY&utm_medium=email)

Focusing on studies published just over the last year in peer-reviewed scientific medical journals, Dr. Greger offers practical advice on how best to feed ourselves and our families to prevent, treat, and even reverse many of the top 15 killers in the United States.

OMG, I cannot believe that I watched the whole thing. I have heart disease. I have diabetes. I've already had cataract operation. I have already outlived the majority of members of my family. My heart specialist tells me that I have no symptoms indicating that I am going to die soon. He even indicates that I may exceed the average life expectancy. He says I'm in pretty good shape for the shape that I'm in. When I watched this thing. It tells me I'm going to die. At my age I know that. I tried a vegetarian diet once. All I got out of it was human rights. I am not a tree hugger. I like to eat animals. I hunger for beef. Why the hell do I watch this. It has to be depressed me.

I know that you posted this out of the goodness of your heart and your caring for your fellow human being. You aren't deluded. Once you get to be our age what the hell do we care about a bland vegetarian diet? Let us enjoy the few years that we have left. Let us plug our arteries and take our anticholesterol pills. Let's pray for a cure for atherosclerosis. Perhaps our prayers will cause some young scientist to come up with a cure in time to save our miserable lives.

You have ruined my day. I hope you feel good.

Let me eat and shut up, please.

Pass the bread & butter, please. Oh, and a bit more wine would be nice.

I did not have time to watch then entire video, but will at another time. I have hope that dietery changes can help, as it doesn't seem that medications can always be the answer. I have never been one to tolerate medications well and hope to avoid their use. I hope when we retire and get to TV later this year, our health will be our new #1 priority with dedicated time for exercise and healthy eating. This new approach may not last for us, but it can't hurt to try. Hubby has lot 10 lbs. and I've lost 4. This has to help our joints if nothing else.
