We just had our home landscaped by Ron's and are completely satisfied. He was always courteous and prompt and held true to his quote. He is professional and does quality work and supplies quality trees and plants. We found him just by riding around looking at landscapes and saw one of his signs on a lawn we liked and decided to call him up. He is extremely knowledgeable about palm trees, as we are from the North and did not know a single thing about them. He helped us pick what we wanted and told us what not to have included, as they would not flourish in this environment. We have had compliments from neighbors who have the same palm and they have told us our trees are the best in the neighborhood. We felt at ease knowing he is a Village resident and has Liability insurance and workmans comp, which is always a plus.

We also used Ron's Landscaping. After talking with many different landscapers in TV, driving around when we came down, we decided to use Ron - he was very helpful with choices of plants and trees that would flourish in the climate. He recommended many trees and plants to use and NOT use based on our likes and dislikes.

Even more impressive, he worked to juggle his schedule to accomodate the time we were in TV so we could see our finished product! Better still, when something came up that I wasn't completely happy with, he worked with us to make it great.

His workers were hard working, polite, and very neat. We are very pleased and can't wait to come back to see our landscaping in person!

If I attached the pictures correctly the first one you see is our before shot - the 2nd is our finished product.

Rons Landscaping has been one of our better decisions for contractors in Florida. We met him by seeing his work at one of our neighbors and was impressed with his design and workmanship.
We used Rons for several reasons; he is a Villager himself, bonded, insured and he helped in our design for both our original house we purchased in 07 and now with our house we purchased a year ago.
He plants only quality trees and plants. Ron and his people are professional; yet they create a very personal atmosphere to work with. Presently he will be doing a third job for us and that is to landscape around our new addition. Ron has us on his November schedule. My wife and I commute up north and back and have had no thoughts to where Ron and his company would not complete the job in a timely manner, and within budget.

Ron also did our landscaping. His philosphy of "less is more" is what my husband and I wanted for the landscaping in front of our home. We selected several low stone walls for accent and a complimentary stone cover. Easy maintenance. Ron and his crew were prompt, courteous, and did a great job. One of our Sabal Plams died and he quickly replaced it at no cost to us. We would recommend Ron to one and all. By the way Ron is a Villager himself.

Ron just finished our yard in the Village of Charlotte. We are extreemly pleased. Ron and his crew are true professionals. I would not have anyone else. This guy knows more about plants and palm trees than anyone I talked to before we had the work done.

We used Ron for out landscaping on Mayflower Loop. I plan more this Spring and I will call him again. He and his crew are professional, speak English, and Ron himself knows more about Palm Trees and other plants than anyone I have spoken with.

This is the time of the year we may have a hard frost or freeze and I have noticed that many of the yards here in the Villages got hit really hard in past years, but they would not look that bad if you do a couple of things that I am about to tell you. When you here that there is a chance of a hard frost or freeze "TURN YOUR IRRIGATION OFF" Let me explain, say there is going to be a frost or freeze tomorrow night. Turn "ON" your irrigation tonight and let it run through the entire cycle this will put moisture into the ground, this is what you need to retain some of the heat in the ground. Then turn your irrigation "OFF" tomorrow and keep it off until the freeze is over. Our cold spells usually last 3-days so leave it off until it has passed then turn it back on. You still have to cover your sensitive plants but there will be less damage to your landscape if you do this. If your irrigation runs during a frost or freeze it will ice everything up and do serious damage to the plants tissue. I know some of you are thinking I notice on t.v. the farmers turn on there irrigation when it freezes down here to ice up the crops. The reason the strawberry farmers do this is to try to save the berry which can tolerate iceing for a period of time. And the orange growers do it mainly to save the tree, if the tree gets a coating of ice on it then the tree has a chance of no damage to the wood on the tree, and the oranges can still be saved if it does't stay below freezing for to many hours. When covering your plants "DO NOT" put plastic over them, it will kill the plants. Use old sheets or quilt's or even better yet a cardboard box if it's big enough, then take it off during the day so sun can get to the plant and then cover it up at night again until the freeze has passed. I have noticed some real bad damage to the Queen Palms here in the Villages, and alot of that damage is from the freeze we had in 2010 that is just now showing up. I have seen it happen 3-times here in this area, I can remember not seeing a Queen Palm alive until you got south of Tampa Florida. I tell all our customers they are taking a chance planting Queens here, we are really to far north here for them. If you notice you will not see a Queen Palm planted anywhere on the Villages common grounds because they know they will get hurt bad from a hard freeze. If you go on our web site at Rons Landscaping Inc (http://www.ronslandscapinginc.com) and click on trees I will post a picture of what the damage on Queen Palms looks like, just give me a few days to take a picture and put it on the site. You can also just click on our ad at the top of this page which rotates each time the page is changed, that will take you to our site also. The water that is inside the tree freezes and damages the wood inside the tree which causes it to rot from the inside out, I hope this article will help some of you, thanks again for all of your business.

Thank You
Ron

Can the queen palms be protected by wrapping the trunks with something like duct insulation??

Rons Landscaping
01-04-2013, 10:22 PM
You could try that but your probably waisting your time because there is no way to get up to the top and protect the crown of the tree, that is the area where the new growth comes out of the center of the tree. a lot of the time when it gets that cold it will hurt the crown also and the tree will get crown rot anyway. (sorry)

My wife has been an avid gardener for over 50 years in Michigan, but gardening in Florida is a different ballgame. Finding someone like Ron, with his designing expertise, using a variety of materials (pavers, garden walls & flagstone) and his knowledge of what plant materials perform well in The Villages made the whole project an enjoyable experience.

-his employees handled themselves professionally. At day-end, the work area was clean & orderly
-Ron would update us daily as the project progressed
-when decisions needed to be made, we were always involved

We were truly amazed at the appearance of the completed project. It is stunning! Many of our neighbors voiced their approval of our new look. Without a doubt, we highly recommend Ron, who is also a fellow Villager, to handle any Villager's landscaping project.

I have recently had my Landscaping redone by Ron and absolutely love what
he has done. My very non-private back yard is now my peaceful, serene oasis and looks stunning when entering my front foyer...His design and shrub/tree selection were perfect..of top quality and perfectly placed to enhance my privacy. Anyone who has a small backyard with absolutely no privacy would be more than pleased with his work. I actually am using my lanai now!
Ron is professional, extremely knowledgable of native to Florida plant/shrub selection to provide years of future enjoyment...his motto is "Less is More",
providing proper choices and placement of landscaping to avoid future overgrowth and crowding. I chose him because of the confidence I felt in his
expertise.
Ron's employees were courteous, respectful and left jobsite organized and ready for next day..could not have been happier with my selection of Ron's
Landscaping, Inc and would highly recommend his services.

Good for you - I tried to hire Ron to do what is a relatively smaller job in my backyard (approx $1500) and never heard from him. Working with Plantacular who is ready to do the install and ended up raising my budget to get more than I originally anticipated done for a very reasonable price.

I had to wait 6-7 weeks for job to start and had out of state company coming to visit that I wanted job already done for...glad I waited as more than satisfied and patience is indeed a virtue! Will post pics soon...waiting "to open Sylvester palm" for front photos...

After talking to many villagers and researching TOTV, we interviewed the top three landscapers and decided to hire Ron because of his knowledge of Florida plants and his creativity of designs.
He and his landscaping crew were professional and courteous and exceeded all of our expectations.

I needed privacy between me and my neighbors' houses. I didn't know what sort of plants to use. Too often I've looked throughout neighborhoods and have seen choices that probably started out fine, but matured into an overwhelming sight. I noted some projects done by Ron's Landscaping, Inc. that seemed proportionate and unique, so I called him (Ron also lives in the Villages).

Ron made outstanding recommendations. He even made some recommendations that I initially decided against, but now I'm having him come back to re-do the area because his original suggestions proved better than mine. Also, the grower he uses produces plants for the Disney theme parks. I'm very happy with the gorgeous, healthy plants he selected for me.

In addition to doing high quality work, Ron is also exceptionally responsive. I was able to communicate closely with him during the entire project. If you wish to reach him his phone number is: 352-227-7788. Rons Landscaping Inc (http://www.ronslandscapinginc.com) I highly endorse him and his crew.

In January 2013, Ron landscaped our frontyard and created a large privacy bed in our backyard.
This summer, we decided to carry the same design to the backyard. We had a pergola attached (The Pergola Kings - Magellan) to our enclosed lanai. Ron and his crew added columns and garden walls to accent the paver area under the pergola which continues the look of the frontyard. The area was enhanced with beds containing low maintenance, cold hardy shrubs and low voltage lighting on select trees and the columns.
So, again we are extremely pleased with our newly landscaped backyard. As was our previous experience, Ron's designing expertise and knowledge of appropriate plant material for our village location made the whole project flow smoothly. He as well as his crew are professionals and pleasant to work with.
Of course, we highly recommend Ron and his crew (352-227-7788, he's also a Villager).

Here the way " Mansfield Landscaping " self promotes himself as the #1 Landscaper in The Villages I would say he without question, Mansfield can use this particular job as something that he should try to do.

This project is really nice and has definite imagination, thought, and Wow curb appeal. Ron's Landscaping is without a doubt Hat's Off...Plus the very fact that the customer in this case posted the favorable comments says it all.

After checking out several landscapers, we found Ron's Landscape and it was an easy decision. First, he showed us around many of our neighborhoods to give us ideas of what we wanted but most important what we didn't want. The end result was perfect - he did our back and while we have the privacy we needed, it certainly has added a lot to the ambience of our lanai. Come see us on Vickers Place - it's easy to spot

Recently, we hired Ron's Landscaping, Inc. to redo our landscaping. It involved new plantings, wall and bordering, and stone ground covering. We selected Ron's Landscaping, Inc. from recommendations from this website. Now that the project is finished, we were glad we searched the "Talk of the Villages". Ron's landscaping, Inc. was just excellent. Their expertise and quality of work was outstanding. The one thing that impressed us the most was the fact that on all occasions, they did exactly as promised. In our current days where a company promises the world but does not deliver on the promises, Ron's Landscaping, Inc. did exactly as they said they would. I'm glad to see a landscaper receive a recommendation from a customer, as opposed to a recommendation posted by a landscaper.

In other words, I often see posts from people who are very pleased with the job Ron's Landscaping has done for them.
He seems to put thought into what he does and all his jobs do not look the same.

And then there is a landscaper who posts his own accolades from supposedly, his own customers and not from the actual customer.
He states that he is #1 in the Villages and I don't know where anyone can get those statistics???

It makes me wonder when someone has to pat their own back.

After a very long search, my husband and I used Ron's Landscaping to add much needed privacy to the back of our Lanai.
Working with Mike was a pleasure. He was extremely knowledgeable of plant material, what grows best in The Villages and the proper care needed for all of my landscaping new and existing. Mike did not rush through the design process and worked with me to ensure I was happy and the installation was done properly. During installation, a problem was found with my irrigation system. Mike was clear in explaining the problem and fixtured the piping at no additional charge. Mike was also very sensitive to my timeframe for installation. I can't thank him enough! Lastly, the plantings are beautiful! Mike guarantees his work and has continued to follow-up personally to ensure my irrigation system is set properly. I highly recommend Ron's Landscaping.

Ron's Landscaping, Inc. Beautiful Job,
We recently had our landscaping done by Ron's Landscaping. They did a great job of designing the front, side and backyard at our house. What was very nice was that we discussed our ideas with them last fall and they were willing to wait until this January when we returned to do the job. Mike, (owner), and his team were very knowledgeable about the types of plants, courteous and even cleaned up the area when they were done. They also instructed us on how to care for the plants and setup the watering schedule. We were very happy with the whole experience and would highly recommend them to others. Ron's phone number is 352-227-7788.

We looked around at neighbors' landscaping and found we liked the look of Ron's Landscaping jobs. Ron came out and discussed plant types, colors and design. He then drew up a plan and a price we liked. We met with Mike before they started the job to confirm the plans. Mike was very punctual, communicative, selected the nicest looking plantings and did an excellent job. He has followed up after the job was completed, offered suggestions on care and also assisted with irrigation settings to keep everything looking great!! We highly recommend Ron's Landscaping.

Another great review for Ron's Landscaping - 352-227-7788.

We had a complete remake of our 20 year old landscaping done to include a large block wall bed in the front of our home. The results are outstanding, eye catching, and exceed our expectations. REALLY adds to the curb appeal of our house and will make the job of maintain what we have much easier.

The design and initial estimate was done by Ron - who is the previous owner. Ron knows his trade and will give you great input on what plants will do well in this climate and on your site. The installation and all the tweaking to suit you is done by Mike (the owner) and his crew of 3 very hard working and meticulous installers.

Mike - the owner - is on site every day and works along side his guys. He is readily available to let you know what is going on and make any last minute (small) tweaks or repairs that might be needed. He lets you know at the end of the job what you need to do to maintain it.

Price is not bargain basement (comparable to most) but you will get everything you paid for. Mike lives and works in TV and does quality work.

I recommend them. My neighbor has already hired them to do their landscaping.

We recently had a rather large landscaping project completed by Ron's Landscaping and it was done expertly and professionally. I recommend Ron's for any landscaping job you might be contemplating.
I have had many experiences with contractors and some were good and some were bad, very bad, but my experience with Ron's was beyond good it was GREAT!
A friend recommended Ron's to us. He had a big project done by him and was very pleased with the result. My friend told me that he had received 3 bids for his job and Ron's was the most expensive, but after doing his research he determined that that extra cost would be well worth it.
So on his recommendation we contacted Ron's Landscaping and asked Ron to come out and take a look at our project. My wife and I had no experience with landscaping like this so we pretty much just left it up to Ron to come up with a design. We liked his ideas and went ahead with the project as he designed it.
About 6 years ago Ron sold the company to Mike Pregartner, but Ron stayed on part time to help out with designing and estimating jobs for Mike.
About a week before the job was to start Ron and Mike came out and told us that after thinking about our job they felt that using a wall for the border of our driveway and walkways would be much better and look nicer than the original plan of using a metal edge for the border. This change would be more expensive in materials and labor and probably cost THEM something in the neighborhood of $1800. This was an amazing development. Getting more than you agreed to on the contract that you signed! How often does that happen?
One of the many great things about dealing with Ron's is that once they start your job they stay on it until it is done. No running around from job to job leaving your job unfinished for weeks on end. Another great thing is that the owner of the business, Mike is on the work site almost the whole time that the project is progressing. He is hands on but also watching and instructing his workers in how each part of the project needs to be done to come out right.
One thing my wife really liked is that at the end of each days work they cleaned up the area. No piles of sand or other material laying around. Everything swept up and neat and tidy.
Another thing that Mike did that was not expected and not in the contract was that he repaired several of the sprinklers that were in a part of the yard that had nothing to do with the project that at hand. I knew that some of them needed some attention and was surprised when I saw that they had been fixed. Mike never mentioned that he was going to do this, he just did it. Amazing!
Part of the job was to lay down some sod. Now I have had sod companies do this for me in the past and the workers just threw the pieces of sod down in a haphazard manner, leaving gaps between the pieces of sod. Not Ron's, each piece was place up tight against its neighbor with no space between each piece. The result was a perfect carpet of sod.
In summary I have to say that it was a perfect job, and a really good experience. Unlike jobs that I had contracted for in the past where I had to constantly watch over the work to make sure it was done right, with Ron's Landscaping I could just go about my life and know that the project at home was being done right.
Also it was a pleasure dealing with Ron, Mike and his whole crew. They are simply good people! If you are thinking about getting a landscaping job done you really should consider Ron's Landscaping.

We recently hired Ron's to upgrade our front landscaping that had gotten overgrown and over run with grass. There were a couple of Queen palm stumps from previous changes to the beds that also needed to be removed. We had some idea's on what we wanted, but needed some advice since we are from the Northeast.

From the first meeting with Ron and Mike, we felt completely comfortable with their recommendations and consultative approach. They pointed out we were too close to a property line and designed a stacked wall to correct this. We discussed what we wanted - frost hardy, slower growing, easier to maintain and a flower bed to plant annual and perennial flowers. Ron & Mike recommended incorporating this flower section into the stacked wall as the front focal point instead of a separate bed in the front lawn. With plans set, we were excited to move forward.

Ron and his crew were here every day from start to finish. They took great care to keep things tidy during the project including washing down the driveway and curbing at the end of every day. Mike's team adjusted our irrigation system in the landscaping and lawn to address the changes. He even adjusted my gutter downspouts around the new stacked walls.

We are extremely happy with their work and the time they take to communicate with you. The entire crew is friendly and go out of their way to do the best job possible. I highly recommend speaking with them for any landscaping project you may have.
