We moved to the Villages about a year ago. And like everyone else we have talked to we had to put up with about 2 to 3 weeks of the phone ringing off the hook, and the doorbell getting a work out with people trying to sell us things.

We were contacted by a company called TSA Environmental about a whole house water system, and a reverse osmosis drinking water system. We were quoted a price, we declined, and got a lower price. We did no further research into prices, (our bad!). And agreed to this system. We were told that the system had a lifetime warranty on all parts. It was not mentioned that this company would have to service the system once a year, to keep the warranty in place. Also were not told that we could not buy the necessary filters for the drinking water system anywhere but through a distributor.

In three years time we will have to spend another $1,000.00 dollars for maintenance, costs, never mind the cost during the year for additives to the system. We have discovered that the water is so pure that we get black rings in the toilets, and have to add jet dry to our dishwasher to get things clean and spot free. We were assured that this would not be necessary. (It was explained by a TAS Rep., that the toilet rings are because there is no longer any chlorine in the water, so we get mold build up in the toilet water. And jet dry or some product is necessary to get clean dishes) We have had water systems in the past and this was not the case.

Upon complaining to TAS, were told that they were sorry we were not told about the ongoing expenses, but we should consider it like owning a car. If you don’t maintain it you should be prepared for the consequences. Which I can appreciate, except we did not buy a car, and the salesman avoided telling us about these mandatory ongoing expenses.

Any way, we do wish that when a person buys a home in The Villages, that they would not send out a list of new home sales, for all these business people to be able to hound you to death.

Other than a couple of issues with things like this dealing with local business people we love living in the Villages.

We had our phone hooked up in the evening, and at 8am All About Water called us. I also wish our names and phone numbers were not accessable till we had been in the house for awhile and had a chance to find out about everything.

Did you ever get a copy of the warranty, etc? We never received anything from All About Water and Solar.

I don't think you need a water purifying system here.

Unfortunately we did not know that. We came from the country and had well water prior.

We also bought a TAS system and are very happy with the product. The water tastes great and we have no soap scum or lime buildup anywhere. Our water is very soft now and we definitely use less soap. This is our personal choice and everyone might not agree.
