View Full Version : Golf Cart Color (re: sun)

When I recently bought a new car, the dealer told me to NOT buy a dark-colored car if I was going to take that to Florida. Absorbs too much heat vs. a light-colored car that has the ability to reflect the sun.
That said, was wondering if the same scenario plays out for a golf cart. My hunch is NOT, since the sides of the golf cart are open and ventilation is present (except when you've got the sunbrella down). But I don't want to just go on my hunch.
Would appreciate others' comments on golf cart colors (dark vs. light) with regard to my question. I recently saw a photo of a black golf cart on TOTV, and I think it is gorgeous. I told Kathy that's the one! But I don't want us to fry in the process <g>.

Nope...like you said, it really doesn't matter in a golf cart. I would pay more attention to seat covers, but even that doesn't make much of a difference.

I have a dark blue cart and I have had no issues with the heat....Color doesn't fade , and while setting in it waiting for the misses I have never noticed any heat build up inside.....I don't think color vs heat is an issue...

Mornings are usually sunny. Afternoon clouds and rain appear almost on a daily basis (since May).
As far as the interior seats there is a "marine vinyl" which is pretty durable. I have the sunbrella insert which keeps the seat from getting too hot and sticky.

As far as heat , even your driver and fairway woods get "hot to the touch" from sun exposure.
Oh course the way I'm hitting my /driver it should be red hot!

Black will adsorb the most heat, hands down, but as already said it outside in the air, you're not touching it I see no issues.
The important thing is seat color, I would say that needs to be light colored or you may not be able to sit on it.
I have a convertible, dark British green, it gets hot on the metal, but the seats are tan and all is good.
A black pearl mica paint will be dazzling in the sun

I had never owned a white colored vehicle until I moved here and it was ito shade you Indeed a wise decision. As for golf carts given a roof that shades you and the seats and air flow coming in all around you it doesn't matter in my opinion if it is black white red or blue

As far as heat goes, I don't think it matters. Our cart is black but I have noticed that b:shrug:right colors are certainly more visible. If it had been my choice I would have gone for a bright color just because of added safety. Just my observation.

I got a custom bright yellow cart so when I go over that morse Street bridge many times a day from our house, particularly at night, I will be seen on that narrow pathway and I also got night lights on the sides.

LIghter colors don't show the dirt as much. And the carts do get dirty fast.

What color of golf cart seats? A previous reply on this thread indicated that lighter colored seats would be preferable vs. dark seats. Your comments?
As I said before, I think the black golf cart with black/tan sunbrella shown on TOTV looked great! Maybe you have a twin in TV <g>.

The light colors are the fastest, more quiet and most reliable.

Our golf cart seats are black & tan, mostly black with a thin tan gold stripe every so often. This particular sunbrella combination (black & tan) seems to be a popular one here in TV. Personally, I think you should go exactly with what you like the looks of.
