I might get drummed off the board for this, but I was just curious as to how other snowbirds' summers are going. Where are you? Is it hot where you are? What have you been doing? Where have you traveled? When are you coming back?
We're fixin' to start to get ready to begin to be anxious to get back to TV!

We're finding it extremely warm this year in Ontario, Canada. Usually we get a couple of heat waves, this year it's been hot all summer. (To us hot is high 80s). I was told that the Farmers Almanac says this is the beginning of a 25 year heat wave/drought. I hope that's not true.
We have a Mediterranean cruise planned for two weeks in September. When we return, we'll start getting organized to head south to The Bubble. The Fall is my favourite time of the year. We get to celebrate two Thanksgivings, the Canadian one in October and the US one in November. We get so excited when we're packing the car and getting ready for our 26 hour trek south. We appreciate TV so much because to us, it is a new and wonderful experience every Fall.
I can hardly wait to see my Village friends and neighbours again. I miss them so much. I'm getting excited just writing this post. We feel so blessed that we are able to spend winters in TV. And TOTV is a wonderful way to stay in touch with what is happening when we're away.

Thanks tkret. We can hardly wait to return to TV. We will brings lots of money, we love spending money in TV, everything is priced so reasonably. We always brings lots of money, and that's why I can't figure out why the US Government limits our stay to 182 days. But I'm not complaining. Well, I guess I am, I'd love to live in TV full time. But we realize that we are blessed to be able to own a winter home in TV and escape the snow and ice.

Having many friends on Long Island I have been busy catching up with them. Eating lots of dinners, gaining too much weight. Also playing golf. It sucks when you have to pay to play. The writing group I ran for five years before I resigned when I moved to TV is not the same. I returned as a guest and everything has changed for the worse. I was going to try bowling but my bowling ball is in Florida. It is also difficult getting around with only one car as my Mini is in my garage in Buttonwood.

It has been hot and dry here in NE Ohio. 25 days of 90 plus and about 40 days over 86. A bit cooler here right on Lake Erie but the water temp hit 80 last week so not much cool lake breeze this summer.
Got a small group playing pickle ball once a week so that is nice. Golfing 1-2 times a week.
Our Village neighbors will be here in about two weeks for a visit Looking forward to that.
Looking forward to our return to TV this October.
Thats the problem with retirement, you never get a day off.

We're down to one car too, plus my husband's 45-yr-old Mustang, which isn't allowed out in the rain, only has lap belts, has no power steering or brakes, no air conditioning, and the heater has been stuck in the "on" position for fifteen years, which usually isn't a problem here in MI except for this year! (sorry for the run-on sentence, Writer Tom...)
We're having wonderful hot weather, humid by MI standards, and the dog is lovvvvvvvvvvving the beach. We're lucky that our little town has a multitude of pickleball players. We haven't done anything so exciting as going to the olympics, or any summer trips. I'm ready to get back to our TV House and feiends, not to mention my little (unfortunately black!) car.

Barefoot, a Med cruise!!! One of those is on my wish list. Maybe we could "do lunch" or meet at DDRR and you could bring pics when you get back?

OUCH! A black car with the heat stuck on. Doesn't sound too confortable. Whats gonna happen when and if you move to Florida full time? Will you get the heat fixed? If not, remind me never to double date with you guys in your Mustang. When are you guys returning to TV? You live not far from me.

We will return before October 16, as our home inspection is the 17th. I have to spend September having cataracts removed, or we would return sooner.
Had I known we were going to buy in TV, my little black car would be a little white car. The Mustang stays in MI full time, as there's no room in the TV garage. It's been promised to our son, but he's living in Australia at the moment. My husband doesn't mind driving it in the heat, which gives us at least one more car unless it's raining. This summer, that hasn't been a problem--not nearly enough rain.
We live in Tamarind. Where are you?

Summer has been good so far. I had a 70th in July and had a gathering of friends from Wasaga Beach. There was a lot of catch-up as we hadn't seen for 2 years. Our city, Stratford ON, is the home of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival so we have been to a number of shows and musicals which is always fun. We saw You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown yesterday and Snoopy was hysterical. Colme Fiore's wife Donna was the director/choreographer and she did a fabulous job updating the show. She had Snoopy playing with Hello Kitty on an ipad!
Our daughter is an Associate director in the Director's Office so we are able to get friends/family last minute tickets and I love sitting in the balcony so we get to see many plays that we would otherwise miss.
I go to Tai Chi 4 days a week and line dance once a week. It isn't as challenging as TV but it is still moving and forces me to use the old gray matter and bod.
The weather has been 80+ but the humidity hasn't been too bad which makes it bearable. The challenge is always going inside to A/C the same as in TV. Always have to carry something to throw over shoulders when going to theatre or restaurants.
As the nights get cooler we think about putting the summer stuff away and packing up for TV. This year we may have to wait til the end of September in order to get the lawn and garden ready for winter. Wish we could use stone like in TV to get the place more maintenance free. Still, the flowers are pretty in the summer and tilling gives our bodies a work out. Definitely need to do something about the weeds though, which grow despite the heat and drought.
I think being up north for the summer work really makes us appreciate our TV home more. We really feel like we are vacationing down south. And like Bare said, having TOTV helps us stay in the loop with what is going on. Only 6 more weeks to go! Or 5 if we can get the yard work done (as long as it isn't too hot and dry!)

For sure, Cyndy, I'd love to meet up with you in the Fall.
By the way, thanks for starting this thread. As a result of my post about the Med Cruise, one of our TOTV members living in Rome contacted me and suggested we meet up with he and his wife while we're in Rome.
TOTV is an amazing place.

Lets see: Saw our Primary Doctor, Cardiologist, Dermatologist, Dentist, Skin cancer surgeon, Optometrist, gynecologist and one more to see who is an eye specialist MD. Charged a small fortune to Medicare and our supplement insurance provider! No wonder Medicare is going broke and some Insurance Companies are in bankruptcy!
Anyway, its been a hot and dry summer in Illinois. The grand children were glad to see us the first day or two and they love to go shopping with Grandma. Played a little golf and took some friends out to dinner. Its been a great summer so far!
Look forward to some peace and quiet and return to TV.
"Other than that, Mr. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?"

Here on the banks of Lake Erie, one of God's great AC systems, since May it's averaged about 80 with low humidity. Kinda like Hawaii. So many great golf courses!
On my way tomorrow to visit my next-door TV neighbor in Grand Bend, Ont. More golf.
Almost don't miss looking out on Lopez CC.

Summer here in Rochester, NY has been awesome; breaking all kinds of heat records with little to no rain; not good for the farmers. Lake Ontario has been warm and the swimming is GREAT; some of the clearest water I have seen in many years. I have experienced hotter weather here than when I summered in The Villages :-)

Summer seems to be flying by quickly - that's good, as we are very anxious to get back to TV in October. We have caught up on our Dr. appointments & tests, redecorated two bedrooms in preparation for selling and taken our grandchildren on four different camping trips. Our oldest grandson is home for two months from Wuhan,China (where he teaches). Time spent with him is precious - we don't see him often. For the next several weeks I will take on the role of care-giver, my hubby had knee-replacement surgery on Tuesday.
