Clint Eastwood Endorsing Romney's Presidential Bid (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/03/clint-eastwood-romney-endorses_n_1740021.html)
I'd rather go with whom George Clooney endorses though. I wonder who that will be? Love Clint Eastwood as a Director/Actor but cannot say I care for his politics all that much.

He is not my guide. Just feel he is more in tune with what is going on in the world than is Clint Eastwood.
Same with another big Mitt Romney fan... Jon Voight. I would be more interested in what his daughter Angelina Jolie had to say. What can I say, my values are Democrat. Women should have the right to control their own bodies, gay rights are important, there should be limits on taxes but it should be proportional to investment and all other income, big business is not necessarily your friend, Social Security is important, support systems for the poor are not handouts, Global Warming exists and is mostly man made, etc.

In tune or not? Really, how does one gauge just exactly how one celebrity VS another is in tune with anything or not?

Why do you think conservative talk radio & Fox news is so popular? Someone has to tell those that can't think for themselves who to vote for.

Willard picked up another "celebrity" endorsement as well. Jenna Jameson also supports Willard because, as she says...
"If you're rich you vote Republican".

Not sure she is a big Republican as you say. She could be. She sure fought with Brad Pitt's mother though who sounds like an ultra right winger.
I am interested in celebrity endorsements as they do influence how some people vote in elections. I care more about what candidates say in debates as long as the debate looks like both candidates are getting equally difficult questions.

I will not link it or quote from it, but check out The New Yorker humorist Borowitz's column on Jenna Jameson's endorsement of Mitt Romney. Her "reasons" are hilarious but quite inappropriate to the PG rating of this message board.

You're challenging Clint Eastwood's judgement? I guess that means you feel lucky. Well, do you? :)

Doubt if Mr. Eastwood visits the Villages very often. And, I have my very bada** pooch.
And, I have not been to the Los Angeles area since stumbling onto a T.J. Hooker set which I had to get through while interviewing for a reference library position with the City of Pasadena.

How does Mr Eastwood feel about the 8.3 unemployment rate ?
How does Mr Eastwood feel about our deficit ?
How does Mr Eastwood feel we should handle the situation in Syria ?
Does Mr Eastwood have any opinions on revising our tax code ??
I assume since you are taking up all this time on the POLITICAL FORUM with conversations and IGNORING anything that is really pertinent that they must have opinions that can be shared.

Clint Eastwood is just saying he is endorsing Mitt Romney. There was quite a bit of speculation that he was endorsing Obama when he narrated a certain ad that played during the 2012 Super Bowl.
Romney is supposed to address the above issues, not Eastwood.

A lot of folks are swayed by who their favorite celebrity endorses, not to mention the celebrity's ability to raise $$ for their candidate.

I can proudly say that I don't know ONE person who would be swayed by anything George Clooney or Clint Eastwood or Angelina Jolie has to say about this Presidential election.
A bit shallow...isn't it?

The endorsement by Clint Eastwood is much more than celebrity and like many of you I don't know anyone who would vote based on what a celebrity said anymore than I would vote based on said endorsement. However, i do believe on its own it does mean something because Eastwood has earned credibility and respect globally
Further, of importance is that Hollywood has been notoriously liberal and that the bastions of this vastly rich domain would in a new york second black ball any celebrity who dared express a political view other than theirs and celerities in turn do not speak out or up out of self preservation. Even someone like Eastwood can be hurt.
Now we have some celebrities like Eastwood, Voight Rock speaking out and up which to me signals that something is stiring in tinseltown.
Eastwood movies say a lot about who he is and what he believes and I for one will welcome his vote on behalf of Mitt Romney come November

Gosh i voted today and that lady at the polling station had the audacity to ask me for a photo ID. so I said to her after she swiped my drivers license that how was I going to be able to vote another 16 times now? She smiled and said you won't ".

in my humble opinion - anyone who casts a vote based on a celebrity endorsement may not be a valid/registered voter!

OR live in a state that requires showing a valid photo ID before they are able to vote
clint Eastwood's endorsement despite wht people say here will have a beneficial and psychological affect in favor of Mitt Romney.:a040:

Voting is not based on IQ or any other qualification except that you have some kind of Valid Voting ID. We would not be a democracy really if you started putting various qualifications on who gets to vote.
I do not know anyone that would ADMIT to being swayed by Clint Eastwood or anyone else's endorsement. People do vote though on who has backed whom.
Oprah W. made President Barack Obama into the star he is by her endorsement in 2008. He was just a law professor/community organizer and writer of a few books. There were hundreds of these in the many law schools across the US.

Tal: I wanted to avoid this but you know that many people know that young Democrats were influenced by Sean Penn, George Clooney, Sarah jessica Parker, Oprah Winfrey, Matt Damon and many more liberal Hollywood types who all campaigned for Obama in 2008:boxing2:

I imagine that the Redneck Southerner Republicans will be looking forward to having Larry the Cable Guy endorsing Mitt Romney (as if Romney knows who Larry the Cable Guy is - although they are both in the same tax bracket).
Git-er-done, Mitt!:ohdear:

That's true. There are however almost as many vocal Republican backers in the Hollywood community. Probably not as many now though with Romney's positions on abortion and gay rights.

perhaps i am too jaded having grown up in essex county, nj where it was who you knew and how much street money was floating around that got folks to go to the polls on election day! of course, not much had changed when i moved to my current county where votes are still influenced by who you know and how active the 'machines' are - from the federal level to the local level! google mayor thomas whelan, a family 'uncle' for some insight! ;) did you ever get paid on election day for walking the downtown streets and distributing 'palm cards'? ah - the good old days!
