The Democratic National Convention Committee and Obama for America announced today that former President Jimmy Carter will address the 2012 Democratic National Convention by video this September. President Carter’s message, including unique insights about President Obama as a global leader, will be played at Time Warner Cable Arena on Tuesday, September 4, in prime time.

It is very nice to see the Party's giving prime time to their previous President's during their national conventions.

Can't wait to hear Junior address the RNC - wonder what night Junior will give his prime time address?

The democrats are not embarassed to have their former presidents speak. Neither George W Bush, George HW Bush, nor Dick Cheney will make an appearance, either in person or via video. In fact, Bill Clinton will deliver the nomination speech.

Obama is inviting Carter to speak since his actions formed the basis of Obama's policies and beliefs.

Economy: Carter - Created a horrible economic mess with incredible inflation, interest rates and unemployment.

Obama - Created a horrible economic mess with continually high unemployment, spiraling national debt and the nation's first downgrade in its credit rating. With a second term Obama will cause an increasing runaway debt, higher unemployment and higher interest rates. Further downgrading of the US credit rating can be expected.

Middle East and Terrorism: Carter - Supported the overthrow of the Shah, eliminating our strongest Middle East ally and providing support to radical Islam and terrorists. Demonstrated conclusively that we do not stand by our allies.

Obama - supported the 'Arab Spring' in North Africa thereby supporting ongoing radicalization of the Middle East, the slaughter of Christians and endangering Israel. Terrorism is already increasing.

Defense: Carter - Hollowed out the defense department with continuing cuts leaving it unable to respond if needed. These cuts were reversed during the Reagan administration and the US resumed its place as a respected world power.

Obama's actions have had similar impact to Carter's, an example is the severe reduction in airlift capabilities. The Obama program will cause a reduction of 150 aircraft from air mobility programs and will even force the Air Force to fly brand-new C-27 joint cargo aircraft directly from the production line to the ``boneyard'' in Arizona this year.

Intelligence: Carter selected Stansfield Turner who on Carter's direction fired the bulk of foreign national agents (820) to increase reliance on Technical intelligence. He also instituted requirements that any future undercover operatives be of good character and free of criminal activities. In effect, you could get intelligence from Choir boys, but not from the hoods in leadership position in street gangs. Stansfield Turner later admitted this was a serious mistake, Carter did not. The lack of Human Intelligence hurt us in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Obama - Our leaker in chief personally gave out the details or Seal Team Six's raid that killed UBL. I know of no previous occasion where a President has detailed the particulars of a raid. His actions painted a big bullseye on the back of every member of Seal Team Six and their families. They also deeply embarrassed the government of Pakistan and resulted in the imprisonment of a physician who had helped the US in this operation. None of that mattered since Obama could claim he killed UBL and garner the publicity for it. The leaking of intelligence regarding the Yemeni underwear bomber has caused a loss of valuable in-place agents and endangered their lives. The leak of the existence of the Stuxnet virus has placed placed those that assisted in danger and discouraged friendly countries from sharing intelligence with us. Lawmakers from both parties have identified the Obama White House as the source of the leaks. The Obama administration has gone on the record saying it will not cooperate and will in fact block any Congressional investigation. They have also refused to appoint an independent prosecutor to conduct the investigation.

In summary, both administrations have pursued policies that have caused great economic damage to the United States, reduced our influence in the Middle East, increased global terrorism, weakened our national defense and severely compromised our intelligence capabilities. No wonder Obama supports Carter and his policies.

Very witty, very witty indeed. You must be quite a hit at the tea meetings.

So, when is Junior scheduled to speak? I mean, he is the Party's Standard Bearer ......

It always confuses me for a second when you say "Junior." I never know if you mean the son of a former POTUS or the son of the Muslim from Kenya.

I am curious about something also...would "junior" be President Bush if he had a different registration card in his wallet and what I am very curious about is what name you would use for the current occupant of the White House if he were Republican ?

He's Junior to differentiate him from his daddy. Kinda thought that was very obvious.

Former POTUS George W. Bush's official statement was something along the lines that he has been enjoying his time out of the political arena and wasn't interested in getting back in the political fray, but he said he believes Romney will make a great POTUS.

Also, coralway, former-POTUS George H.W. Bush will not be attending because of health reasons. The Bush family will be represented by Jeb Bush.
