PGA Championship: Tiger Woods takes aim at last major of 2012 - The Early Lead - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/early-lead/post/pga-championship-tiger-woods-takes-aim-at-last-major-of-2012/2012/08/09/0c9f98aa-e219-11e1-98e7-89d659f9c106_blog.html)
I have a friend that has a bet that Tiger Woods will win a Major this year. Anyone think Woods will do it this weekend? It is his last opportunity for 2012. Tiger Woods - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Woods)

Not sure why everyone worships this guy. The loud applause he received when he returned to the circuit turned my stomach. I am sure most of you disagree with me but he is an insult to the great game of golf. Jack, Arnie, Gary Player, Mex, ChiChi and todays stars Bubba and Lefty are people I'd love to have live next door to me. Let us not forget the questions of him doing steroids. Yes, these rumors are unproven, but with Tigers lifestyle, nothing surprises me.

I have never been much of a Tiger Woods fan but he seems to have paid his dues for is many mistakes with his personal life. That also seems to be more of a matter for the tabloids, divorce lawyers, mistresses, etc than for golf.
In 2008 I was rooting for Rocco to win over Woods. I usually like the underdog in sports events and Woods has rarely been the underdog in anything.

.
The survey says: A large percentage of married men/woman have an affair somewhere in their life. I'm certain some of you reading TOTV have drifted, but to have drifted like Tiger? He was in as many bedrooms as Elvis. No excuse for it. Not a role model. And comparing all his next lovers..his wife was still the best looking of them all. BOOO to Tiger. Booo to the people who put him on a pedestal

Woods is on a pedestal for his golfing acumen, and he belongs there - for his golfing acumen. Attributing heroic stature to most human beings is tricky business. If we knew everything about many of our sports heroes personal lives we might be naseous. Enjoy and try to emulate how they hit a ball, or throw a ball, or use a racket, or box or wrestle or drive a car etc., etc., but don't hope to emulate their life or you may become sorely disappointed. And that is true of any public figure, not just sports celebs, John Edwards, JFK, Giuliani, FDR, Nixon, all were worshiped and adored by millions.

We followed Tiger 12/13 years ago when he played Bay Hill. He cursed, threw clubs, acted like a "moron" on the course and thought he was too good to sign autographs. Media never showed any of it. In short, he had a terrible attitude toward the public who came to watch him play. After his father passed, he really acted out.
Was/is he a great golfer. One of the best to play the game as far as golfing skills. Then there is the rest of the story.......

There seem to be some people who just cannot handle their God-given talent very well. Woods' father seemed to be someone who kept Tiger anchored and now he just kind of gets pushed by his various seas every which way.

According to several accounts Earl Woods was a controlling, manipulative, womanizer.

Did not know that. Perhaps, Tiger learned the bad behavior from his father then.

Getting back to the question - I feel that Tiger is hitting the ball very well.
Unfortunately what use to be his "money club" - the putter has not been as reliable. With all the talent out there I think professional golf has come darn close to parity.
That said, if Tiger putts well, he will be right up there - if he doesn't - top 25!

Right on! He is at the top of most of the statistical rankings. 1st in Fedex points, 1st in money won, 4th in top ten finishes, 1st in scoring average, 13th in greens in regulation, but only 36th in driving accuracy and 39th in strokes gained putting. So, as people who have watched him have observed, he has trouble with his driver and his putter.
While I have been a fan of his golfing ability, I have not been a fan of his behavior. But I also believe that he has been punished for his misdeeds more than any other person I know of. His cheating on his wife cost him his marriage, his children, his home, millions of dollars in endorsements, and has led to his once unbeatable golf game becoming a lot more mortal. Of course he has no one to blame but himself, but he certainly has more than paid for his crimes.
