When they put up the new directional signs to help drivers negotiate the roundabouts I thought it was very clear which lane was to be used for which direction - going straight, turning left or turning right.
Apparently that was wishful thinking.
Twice in the last 2 days a driver in the right lane crossed over in front of me to make a left hand turn. Sigh. If a driver has out of state plates, I try to be patient, but the last one had Florida plates and a gate pass. He should have known better.
I seems to me that it's really pretty simple - if there was no roundabout, you would never make a left hand turn from the right hand lane or a right hand turn from the left lane. The same rule applies here. I love the roundabouts since it keeps traffic flowing, but I hate feeling that I'm risking my life every time I come to one.
So, please be careful out there and think about what you are doing.
