I think you can rent a box at the pack & ship place.

There are four Post offices you can go to and rent a PO Box. If you go to USPS dot com and put in The Villages zip codes, (ie; 32162, 32163, 32159) you should get the Post Offices in the area. You can than apply for a box based on the size you need and time needed. However, you will need two forms of identification AND be present before they will issues you a key.
It is pretty much the "four corner" towns bordering The Villages:
NW Section - Oxford PO (LSL area, 466 area)
NE Section - Lady Lake PO (Usually north of 466 or by LSL)
SW Section - Wildwood PO (466A area - Gilcrest etc)
SE Section - Fruitland Park PO (466A area, Sanibel, Charlotte)

Hope this helps

There is no need to rent a box short term. We had our mail delivered to General Delivery at the Lady Lake Post Office and it costs us nothing. Give them a call.
