Amazing, aren't they! Mike looked at them this morning and said the terrain reminded him of places his battalion drilled...;)

Looks like the Pohakaloa Marine Corps training area on the island of Hawaii. They used that area for training for the moon landings as well.

Happy to say I help built several parts on that rover in addition to another Mars rover several years ago while working as a toolmaker/machinist at CDA (controllable drive actuator's) Intercorp in Deerfield Bch. Fla. before retiring. It's nice to see projects I worked on going up and being sucessful. Sometimes you have to wait many years before they are actually launched.

Why, they're down here, exploring earth. They can't get over how blue it looks on approach; and they marvel over the terrain, buildings and most especially... The Villages.
