Is Prefered Care Partners only a Medicare plan? Or do they also have plans for under 65?

Preferred Care Partners is a Medicare Advantage plan HMO available for individuals age 65 and over, who have Medicare Part A and B.

My understanding is that Preferred Care Partners has been sold..I also heard that next year the same plan will not be offered..Looks like United bought them out and will be raising rates and diminishing coverage...Just hearsay at this point but there are insurance symposiums scheduled throughout the villages in early Oct...I'm going, just to find out what is happening..Looks like a big company may have bought out the competetion and will be putting it to the customers for the almighty buck..Anyone else know of something different?.

To be clear Medicare Advantage Plans are available for anyone on Medicare, not just those 65 and over. For example if you receive SS Disability and qualify for Medicare you can take advantage of Medicare Advantage Plans no matter your age

I suspect that anybody on Preferred Care Partners is pretty much screwed. United Health Care is teamed up with AARP to sell medicare plans to seniors. You can bet that AARP will not let United undercut prices available to their own members. I cancelled my AARP membership years ago because I didn't like having to pay dues to an organization that supported political causes I did not agree with. I am not about to rejoin them now.

Not fair to start rumors here! Yes PCP was bought out but as a PCP patient who was in the PCP office recently I can tell you even the employees there can't tell anyone what is coming with the new enrollment. We ALL will find out next week.....so noone is *sc$#%ed* yet.

I am anxious to know what they will offer us for next year. Hubby and I are both PCP members. We recently received in the mail an application from UHC for insurance and none of the plans really suit us. We need decent and reasonable coverage for overseas trips.

Don't worry! I just talked to my insurance guy, who has PCP. He went to a meeting in Ocala yesterday with PCP and United Healthcare and got information. I am new to PCP. Apparently it changes every year. He told me about the plan which puts $99.50 back into SS instead of $75. A little higher hospital co-pay, but sounds pretty good. He will be meeting with me soon to discuss the plans offered.

I just got a big package from Optimum, and their plan is basically the same for 2013 as it has been.

correctionThanks. That's good to know.

I have been thinking about changing from PCP (a Medicare Advantage Plan) to Medicare with a Medigap Plan.....and so made an appointment at LSL with the Insurance Office there. Did this last week before receiving the news from PCP........I would suggest anyone with concerns to do the same

That is what we had, but it was $300+. Momth for two of us, plus our medication plan which was about $50/ month per person plus co pays. We've been saving over $400 a month with preferred Care Partners.

I know, but the letter I received today stated that the plan we have now will NOT be offered for 2013"

The letter from PCP states that my options are 1. To join another Medicare health plan; 2. I can change to original Medicare.......that's it

The person who wrote previously about getting the $99.00 back is referring to the 2012 plan........at least that is how I am reading my letter.

The heading on my letter says:

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Your Medicare plan won't be offered in 2013

How can an agent tell anyone it will still be available?????

We also have PCP and we need to do some research for a new insurance company. Would you be willing to give me your insurance guy's name and contact information.

Thank you.

I see in the paper today that the PCP informational meetings are starting soon.
For those that have had PCP in the past how satisfied have you been and would you remain with them if it is offered?

I have shied away in the past due to having Type II Diabetes and AFib but I'd appreciate hearing from someone with a chronic illness that has used PCP and how "available" services have been.

Thanks.

Returned from a Preferred Care Partners meeting. The Gold plan is gone, and the new plan is Secure Option. Some copays are a little higher, but now we get $99.90 back each month. Looks pretty good to me.

Have only had it a few months and would say with the limited amount of doctors available if I had a health issue I probably would not go with them. If you are in realtively good health and only need an annnual physical to get renewals for blood pressure or cholesterol or thyroid, etc maintanance drugs it is a pretty good deal.

We've personally been very satified. With your medical conditions I believe I would go to the Preferred Care office in Lake Sumter and talk with someone there. You can then see how it fits your situation.

Today we received a letter from PCP explaining what will happen when their coverage ends 12/31/2012. Perhaps they should have sent this letter first. Since it gives us new options.

PCP is still in business. Now owned by United Healthcare. separate companies. It is still a good co. along with others. Dont panic, all benefits will not be allowed b4 10/15.
the rumors are just that, rumors. There will be changes to Med adv every year

Does anyone know a local contact for United Healthcare Medicare Advantage. I just signed my Mom up for Humana a few days ago since she is now a permanent resident of The Villages, just to find out today that she is not permitted to see any docs at the new Colony Healthcare Center. Any help would be appreciated. I called AARP United Healthcare 800 number and got nowhere. Thanks!

Again....the Villages Insurance office would be able to answer *any* questions re: *any* insurance offered. We went there when we 1st came down here almost 4 years ago...and still stop there with our questions. They are ALWAYS helpful!!!

As for PCP...we've had it for 2 years now and can't be more satisfied! I have numerous health issues (lots of meds) and they were the ones recommended to go with. They offer two plans...one for folks who don't have many health issues and one for those who may (heart and diabetes).

I have another view of what is transpiring.
I have met both the foundres and they are very bright"BUSINESS MEN".
A fast growing successful business may well be recognized by the competition as a prize to add to their business portfolio..........or alternatively, a great business strategy!!!! Start a medicare based health care product in a growing entity like TV. Make sure it is a very competitive/attractive product. Get it to a point where it is a thriving "going concern".....all with the intent to sell and make millions.....for THEMSELVES!!!!!!!

I choose to believe the latter. And of course what ever company buys them out will amend/change the benefits to match their current offering, no doubt eliminating some of the more attractive attributes originall y offered by the founders to attract a following.

And discovering that the employees do not know anything only means they are in the same boat as current clients. When the deal is done, they will heatr the announcement at the same time.

I could be wrong....but it is a very distinct possibility. My experience dictates me to bet I am correct.
Check what ever public info becomes available on the sale of the business and you will find the founders gain multiple millions in the deal.

Only Medicare plan. If you are on Medicare disability, you can apply for an
Advantage Plan whether it be Preferred Care or another Advantage Plan. You do not need to be 65. However, you do need to be entitled to Medicare Part A and enrolled in Medicare Part B.
