There is an article in the Washington Post in which analysis of over 2,000 voter fraud cases since 2000 resulted in a total of 10 voter impersonations. Ten.
That is one case of voter impersonation for every 15 million voters.
Yes, we must spend the time and money and effort to stop these 10 fraudulent voters every 12 years.
What a joke. It is voter suppression period. The righties know they cannot win fairly. :ohdear:

Well as one guy explained to me on the golf course the other day. The deaths of Osama bin Laden and Gaddafi have been verified because they names showed up on the Chicago Democratic Voter Registar and the names were signed and cross verified by Earnest Hemingway and Pearl S Buck:1rotfl:

Hope you had a good guffaw about that. Not funny to me.

how does one go about with that philosophy deciding when it is ok to be illegal or not?
Right or wrong is much easier to deal with. If voter fraud is wrong then it should be eliminated. If it is such a trivial issue for some then why all the hoopla against doing what is right.
Ya can't have a selective system on right and wrong.

The only reason that these conservatives keep yapping and yapping about "Voter Fraud" is so they can make a case for their own version of voter intimidation. Put enough obstacles in the pathway and hope for a very low voter turnout.
It worked for them in Jim Crow days so they are trying again when they are so desparate for votes.

No, it is not ok to do nothing. But the solution to a problem of excess ability of 10 people voting should not be to develop a "solution" which may well deny MILLIONS of legitimate registered American citizens of their vote. And we all know the demographic of those citizens who are most likely to be unable to vote because of the new regulations which have been put into play always by Republican officials.

"...which may well deny MILLIONS of legitimate registered American citizens of their vote..."
This is always the stock answer to getting rid of voter fraud.
If they are legitimate registered then how could they be denied their right to vote.
Why is the argument to deny certain demographics...that must be the party line.
Do you really believe there is a objective to deny certain demographics? Do you really believe any organization would expose themselves to such ridicule for 10 fraudulent voters? Really? Please explain why you think that is the case. Really in your own words not some trite, parrot, knee jerk partisan response.
If the dems knew for one second they could lose due to fraudulent voter registration we all know what the position would be would we not.
Very Nancy Pelosi like philosophy....she is the one who touts she is against what ever the opposition proposes. No thinking, no guts, no need to stand and be counted to do what is right. Voter fraud being only one of many issues shut down for partisan arbitrary positioning.

All the hoopla is brought out by conservatives. Historically, conservatives do better when voter turnout is low. Hence, if you can suppress voters turnout is therefore low and good for conservatives. Not really hard to see what is going on. Fake outrage about a non-existant problem for political gain. 'Nuff said. :icon_wink:

non existent voter fraud is akin to stating the only speeders on the road are the one's ticketed!!!
If they are legitimate registered voters how does enforcing the registration laws/rules cause them to stay home?

so why don't we get a 'solution' [to the voter fraud problem that is known to exist] offered by the democrats other than the 'solution' to do nothing?
it seems they want me to believe that if the problem is not discussed, then it does not exist; and, therefore, does not need to be resolved.
we all know that unless and until a substance abuser admits that they have a problem, in their opinion they don't have a problem.

The only voter fraud that's been mentioned in the newspapers in Florida are snowbirds voting in more than one state and Canadiens voting in south Florida. They should all be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, which is five years in prison and a $5000 fine.
Voting by mail in Florida does not require a photo ID. When I'm out registering voters everyday and making sure they have the proper photo ID, I just automatically request a mail-in ballot for them. It couldn't be easier to fill the ballot out in the privacy of your home and put a stamp on and mail it...no lines, no waiting, no effort whatsoever.

How is it that mllions and millions of people do not encointer any problem and are not suppressed from free benefits but liberals reject photo ID for voting?
Why is it that Team Obama comes to the rescue of illegal voters but his number one (Valerie Jarret) demanded two photoID for people attending her daughter's weddingthis past June?
Perhaps it is because Obama learned that having illegals vote for him, legals vote for him several times and dead people arising from the dead to vote for him paid off in 2008. and lest not let us forget the new black panthers and ACORN who attempted to frustrate people from voting.
What never ceases to amaze me is that liberals really defend Obama's position with a straight face

There is a court case currently awaiting a verdict in PA that was filed by a 94 year old African-American woman, who can not get a birth certificate because she was not allowed to be born in a hospital prior to The Civil Rights Act being passed in 1965. Without a birth certificate, she cannot obtain the state required photo ID. This same woman has voted her whole life and marched with Martin Luther King. What would you tell this woman to do?

I will, with a straight face, defend the position that the right to vote is fundamentally different than the wish to attend a private wedding.
And you will of course now be posting your evidence to prove your allegations of voting fraud leading to Obama's election. And evidence of millions and millions of illegal immigrants voting, and multiple voting etc. There are plenty of Republican prosecutors and state officers who certainly would have vigorously prosecuted those who sullied our electoral integrity. Where are those cases? The only specific information I can find is a statement by the South Carolina head of the DMV that 957 dead people may have voted at some time in some election, but he hadn't verified that list for errors or the possibility that people may have voted absentee and died before election day.
Analysts used records from the S.C. Election Commission, the S.C. Department of Vital Statistics and the Social Security Administration, Schwedo said. His office determined that about 957 people could have voted after they had died but said there could be data-reporting problems or other errors that would make the number lower.
Schwedo did not say when those questionable votes may have been cast -- whether over the past 20 years or two years. He said he examined the data because he wasn't satisfied with what was being presented by the S.C. State Election Commission
Now I ask you, where is your evidence??

BTW: Pennsylvania's Secretary of State testified in this case that there is no voter fraud in PA, and he doesn't anticipate any voter fraud.

something else that we can agree on! :) do you have any idea how that is allowed to happen - beyond the lack of an effective board of eletions staff? i would go do far as to approve the removal of staff who processed fraudulant snowbird/canadian votes, too!

Nis indeed ow I ask you, where is your evidence??
If you ever had experience in investigating fraud you would realize that what you know and what you can prove is indeed difficult. If you have any doubt recall the outcome of the charlie Rangel allegations. I have actually had people look me in the face and in a round about way take delight in telling me they are frauds . But what you suggest is a typical Obama/Holder distraction and it means bupkus.
Any reasonable person voting in the 21st century with its technology, etc makes photo ID cards for voting a piece of cake especially since the states pushing for this initiative have all agreed to pay the costs.
One has to ask why would any reasonable person object to securing a photo ID. If they can find a way or manner to vote they certainly can find a way or manner to secure a photo ID As they say in my part of the world "do you think I just fell out of a tree?"

one more post...I cannot understand how anyone can be anything but ashamed to be associated with a political party so thuggish as to try to rig an election to disenfranchise minorities. This is not about voter fraud never was. Tried in Florida, shot down, tried in Penn. same result and tried in Minn. and again shot down. Found 10 cases so lets stop all of them from voting.

It's allowed to happen because there is no cross checking between states. The board of elections staff take you at your word when you sign your name and verify that you have only voted once, under penalty of five years in jail.

you mean that you don't have to show up at the registry with birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce papers, a state driver's license/id, utility bill mailed to your local address and a social security card in order to register to vote like you do to get a driver's license?!?!?! sheesh!
sounds like a federal registry of voters would snag the us snowbirds, but maybe not the canadians!
