Here we go again... thunder, lightening, bam, bam, bam.... every afternoon, you could set your clock on it. Today it clouded over around 1pm and the storm started a few minutes ago. Every day, between 2 and 5pm, the sky darkens, the booms start and my dog runs under the tables to hide.

On the other side of the fence, the grass is beautifully green, the flowers are so colorful and I'm loving my afternoon naps... LOL....

Oh well, it could be worse, huh.:boom:

Please send some rain up north. The Chicago area and all of Illinois, and most of the Midwest (think of the farmers), really need the rain.

Oh, the poor puppy.... :( Think a thunder shirt might help? I'm either going to get a thunder shirt for myself or start singing the Thunder Buddy song.... ;)

Ah, a nap, sounds delightful....enjoy!

Yup...it's summer in FL and it's the rainy season! First year we were here had a chat with a local (born/raised in FL) who told me that you can always bank on it. Nice in the mornings and rain (sometime) in the afternoon.

:bigbow: Schaumburger: Here in Central Illinois we are on water restrictions. The drought is getting very serious. Some of the farmers say they have lost half of their corn and soybean crops. This means higher food prices in the next few months. Our yards look like a desert and the golf courses are beginning to look like goat ranches. Yes, send some of that rain this way!! :a040:

Yes. Back to two days/week, but with the almost daily rain, my system doesn't go on.

Almost every night the news in Chicago features something about the drought, and all reports say the counties south of the Chicago are not in good shape. From what it sounds like, the corn crop is already severely affected, and if no significant rain falls soon, the soybean crop will also be severely affected. :ohdear:

I saw that ad and wondered how many of those things I'd see in TV.

Thanks Quirky, it might just work but I hate spending another $40 on something that "might" work. He seems to calm down if I surround him with pillows or a quilt so it must be a security/comfort thing. I bought a bark collar (actually many of them) spent a small fortune and none worked so I'm kinda skeptical of these gimmicks. I'll continue with the pillows and quilts. Thanks again.

I know what you mean. It seems like "artificial cuddling" - when real cuddling is free and fun!

Kathie, our Jean Luc ALWAYS wanted to wear his sweater. Once we put it on him, we left it to the groomer to take it off, because Jean Luc would growl & actually try to bite us if we tried to remove his sweater. He LOVED wearing his sweater! We called it his security blankie. Without it, he was a nervous wreck. With it, he was Handsome Super Dog! He was a chubby little guy, and his sweater was very snug. Do you have a sweater you could try? :doggie:

Now somebody is making big bucks off 'The Jean Luc Snug Sweater Handsome Super Dog' remedy. Try a snug sweater to see if you think the Thunder Shirt could help. The only difference I can see is that it would be a lot easier to remove the Thunder Shirt. :1rotfl:

Could only manage 27 holes today due to heat. Thankfully the afternoon rain skirted TDS this afternoon.

More torrential rains in Sabal Chase area today. This morning when I checked they were saying it would be drier today than the past 4 days or so....maybe tomorrow! Have to admit everything is nice and green though, but I miss driving my golf cart. Driving it through the type rains we've been having would not be fun!!!!! Right now things look pretty good for the rest of the evening. No where I need to go but maybe I'll just go out for a ride.

That's what we thought, so my neighbor and I headed up to Palmer for a 12:28 tee time at Laurel Valley. I couldn't believe it, just a twosome, no one else signed up to play. Things were a little slow since we were behind a foursome. It was hot but otherwise nice until about the 8th hole when the sky started getting a little dark. We finished the 9th hole about 2:30 and were headed over to Riley for the back nine.

It was getting much darker and as we rounded the club house the thunder started getting closer. The last three times out we've been caught in the rain, twice at Bonifay but we finished and before that at Glenview we got a rain check for the back nine. Today was no different, I said to my neighbor why don't we get a rain check.

As soon as we pulled out of the club house lot and headed down Buena Vista it started to pour the worse I've seen here in a year. We didn't even stop to put the sides down. Going down Baileys Trail and then St. Charles in the cart lane every car that passed us made it seem like we were at the water park. Finally got home about 3:00 and I never saw my cart so wet. It was still wet at 6:00 when I started to dry it off. Just another day at the golf course in TV's.

Please send some rain up north. The Chicago area and all of Illinois, and most of the Midwest (think of the farmers), really need the rain.

We also were beginning to get "dry" after a very emerald green grass kind of spring with lots of rain...........but now the rains have returned again, as has the very bright green grass.

We would gladly send you our rain from Vermont if we could.....
All of the rain is making up for the lack of snow last winter.

However, it is also coming up to the August 28 1st anniversary of Tropical Storm Irene whose flooding inundated Vermont's bridges, roads, barns, homes, etc.....as well as neighboring New York State.........

The entire spine of the Green Mountains or middle of our state was cut off (various villages and small towns) by destroyed bridges and roads.
This summer we saw massive rebuilding as we drove north. Even our western side of the state had big gouges out of highways. Water can do a lot of damage. We had tons of rainfall that weekend last August.

Truthfully, we've never seen so much constant RAIN which in turn brings heavy humidity and mugginess. It poured again last night as it did a vew days ago and also last weekend........very rainy up here. I feel sorry for all of the brides who plan their outdoor weddings under tents or by covered bridges in the great outdoors........not the year for it at all.

People can argue against global warming but there most definitely is a climate change that we've been experiencing for a long number of years up here.

When we lived in Florida, there always was a "very predictable" timewise thunderstorm DAILY all summer long. On the east coast it was in the afternoon hours......but as soon as it began, it was over and the sun would pop out again..........it tended to cool things down.

When we were in TV last autumn, the rain was so HEAVY and visibility pretty bad..........but we noticed how great the sewers and gutters were performing.......as we made our way back from an early breakfast.
