I could hardly believe some of the Letters to the Editor in todays Daily Sun.. It becomes apparent that many folk never take the time to check out their "facts" but would rather submit a letter based on rumor and untruths.

wish i knew what that post was about! i bet those letters are based on the 'facts' as the authors know them or as someone wants the authors to know them.

but knowing that they don't know the same 'facts' that the proverbial 'you' know because the facts were researched - well, just goes to show why people do what they do and how wrong decisions can be made. that's sad.

Reminder...please don't let this wander into partisan politics or the thread will have to be moved to the political forum.

The August 12, 2012 Sunday Villages Daily Sun "Letters to the Editor" were about Barack Obama, signs on lawns, and a few other topics.

Thanks Tal. I'm not sure what specific point Warren was trying to make -- perhaps just a general observation about the quality of letters.

I never read the editorial page or the letters to the editor, not because so many of the writers completely flummox the facts to suit their needs, but because there is so much downright hostile, cruel, vicious, and even crude letters printed. I cannot believe that an editor worth his or her salt would allow such letters to be printed--or that there aren't other letters that are more suitable in not just content but language and manner of expression. This says something about the policies of the Daily Sun.

Re: 1/11 Simple Safety Steps article. You forgot one: Get a dog!

Well, Butch, the posting you linked to was over 1 year old even though your article was from today's paper.

The "Get a Dog" advice does not always work. The two burglars who broke into the Bridgeport at Lake Miona home did so without bothering the two small dogs that were in the house. They let the dogs out of their doggie gate and the homeowner found the dogs loose at 4:15 am - and they had not make a sound while the burglars were doing their deeds.

This old thread is controversial and probably not the best place to put your post, Butch. Just start a new thread next time, and welcome to the forum.
