Our local Congressman has lost in a major upset to a virtually unknown candidate. Victor Ted Yoho in large part credited his win to a very low turnout which enabled his supporters to eek out a very narrow plurality.

Yoho and Stearns have no policy differences and both represent the right wing of the GOP. Yoho places greater emphasis on his religion than Stearns did but it didn't result in different positions on major issues. Yoho has pledged to serve no longer than 8 years in the House. So to answer your question... Stearns took this for granted seems to be the correct reply.
Perhaps someone in the Stearns or Yoho (a pirate's life for me?) camp can comment.

I am confused as to why Stearns was not on my ballot. He is (or used to be) covered by our portion of Marion county.

Could it be because of redistricting?

I expect that is it. I do know that when I got my new voter's registration card all of the districts were changed but I cannot find out who is in these districts.
I guess I will keep looking.
