Katie is a sweet black & tan female dachshund who came to FLDR on Saturday, 8/11/12, in terrible pain and was crying and squealing. Her foster mom immediately took her to the neurology specialist, Dr. Anne Chauvet of Critical Care & Veterinary Specialist of Sarasota.

They did an MRI and determined the problem was in her neck and did surgery that day. She hemorrhaged so much that they could not determine if they fixed the problem totally.

Katie rested fairly comfortably until today, 8/13/12, when they did another MRI and they found that more surgery was needed. She had another neck surgery today.

Now we just have to wait and see if Katie can recover completely and live pain free.

We need to raise money to pay for Katie’s surgery and care. Note: they are trying to raise $2,500. If you can help, please donate through our PayPal button at the bottom of this page NOTE: I copied this from their website, so if you want to use the PayPal button you will need to go to their website. Katie's page is: Katie’s Neck Surgery*|*Florida Dachshund Rescue – FLDR (http://fldr.org/2012/08/13/katies-neck-surgery/) or if you prefer to mail a check, please make it out to Florida Dachshund Rescue and mail it to our treasurer:

Is there an update on how Katie is doing after the second surgery? Probably too soon. I hope they were able to correct the problem. I'll keep checking the website.

THANK YOU in advance from FLDR & Katie.

I just made a donation. It is very simple to do and will take you about 30 seconds. Go ahead and donate a few bucks.....it will make you feel good and make things so much better for all the good things the FLDR does.

Thank you to all who donated to help Katie. Unfortunately, Katie passed away. Your donations will go toward the cost of her MRI, etc.
