Am I the only one that is tired of hearing IN THE HOLE even when the pro's are on a par five tee shot. I could maybe understand if it is an approach shot or a putt, but when teeing off on a 575 yard par five.

Ditto,
I turned off the golf tournament today because of the idiots who wait for the split second after the ball contact to yell, "IN THE HOLE". Boneheads!!

I agree!
Sorry to hijack this thread but another bother to me about broadcast golf tourney is the full screen shot of a golf ball against the sky. Really! What exactly does that shot show? And once you've seen a ball against the sky you've seen them all; and you can't tell the difference between any of them!
Why not get a better camera angle that shows the flight shape of the ball, or the golfer's reaction or something meaningful?

Yup, me too. Just so when they go home and playback the recording they can tell their friends, "See, that's me yelling". Idiots is too kind a word for them.

Definitely tried of hearing all that junk during a tournament. Which is part of the reason I seldom watch them anymore. Blame goes to the media because they place those microphones around the tee box and greens for "sound effects" and then you get these idiots yelling for who knows what reason. Personally I do not care about the sounds I just want to watch the players play the game.

It won't stop until they quit selling beer at the golf course, which they won't because it makes too much money. It's no different at NFL football games, stop the beer sales and you can end the fights.

I think you're correct, a friend dropped by my office that worked at Bethpage this past weekend, he was one of the guys that holds the score up and walks with the players, he said the number of drunks screaming was annoying not only to the players but others.
He also said the other comments from fans were so annoying it makes it tough on the players at times.

The yelling and loud comments seemed especially bad at the tournament in NY this past week. People were actually trying to disturb Sergio in his back swing. That is bad manners and poor sportsmanship. I believe the tournament security personnel should escort these offenders off the property.

These are not true golf fans. I seem to hear the idiots more often following Tiger.

A double eagle is 3 under, which means that would be a hole-in-one. I think you meant on a Par 5, in which case a 2 would be a double eagle or albatross.
